Frontier Parent Newsletter
October News
Note From Miss Rutan:
This month is really gearing up to be a great month. We are excited to host our Parent Teacher Conferences on the 19th and 20th. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to get to know your child's teacher and to hear how they are doing in school. We love to have strong partnerships with our parents. On October 5th, our teachers will be participating in professional development provided by the District Office. They will be learning more about our new math curriculum adoption. They will also have opportunities to collaborate with their team. We were so happy with the turnout to our Back to School STEM night. It was a wonderful evening and loved seeing all of the families that could join us.
If you have any questions, or concerns please contact me at rutan.katie@westada.org or by phone at (208) 350-4190.
Sincerely,
Katie Rutan
Principal

If you have a family member that has or is currently serving in the United States Military, we would love to honor them in our program on November 10th. I will be putting a slideshow together featuring pictures of the heroes that our students know and love. If you have pictures of your family members that have served in any branch of the United States armed forces, please send them to Mrs. Kaldenberg by Friday, November 4th. You can email them or send a photo to be scanned and returned.
Love and Logic Class
Frontier Elementary School Counselor Sara Buffington is offering a six-week session of Parenting the Love & Logic Way at Frontier Elementary for any Frontier Elementary parents who are interested.

The cost of the class is $15 per person/couple (to cover the cost of the workbook). If you have attended a session previously and want to sit in again (and already have a workbook) you are more than welcome to do so.

Hearing and Vision Screenings
The Nurse will begin vision and hearing screenings during the month of October. Vision screening will be done for all elementary students and hearing screening for K,1st and 3rd grade. For vision, the SPOT photo-refractory device is used. It captures and analyzes images of the pupil to assess the correct alignment of each eye and estimates the eye refractive error or acuity. This process takes less than 2 minutes per student. The hearing screening process takes about 5 minutes per student and is conducted in a quiet location. The Nurse uses a manual pure tone audiometer and measures hearing at 20dB at 1000, 2000 and 4000Hz. The nurse will notify parents if any concerns are detected. If you have additional questions you can refer to the WASD website-menu-Academics-Health Services-Hearing/Vision Screening.
If you do not wish to have your student screened, please contact the school nurse at rich.angela@westada.org. by October 5th, 2022.

Parking Lot Procedures
* Please remain in your vehicle during pick up and drop off. If your child needs assistance, please park and walk them to the sidewalk. This helps keep the line moving for all of our families.
*If a staff member is waving you ahead, please pull forward to allow more cars up to the front drop off and pick up area.
*Children enter at the front of the parking lot and not on the sides, this is for safety. We have numbered signs to help efficiently have students ready for when their parents' car pulls up.
