Dear Fabulous Families -

  • Thank you so much for participating in parent-teacher conferences. What a great opportunity to strengthen the school-home partnership to benefit our students!

  • While parents and teachers were conferencing, Dr. Winkeler, assistant principal and middle school coordinator, was talking with many of our high schools. It is our desire to strengthen the middle school to high school experience for our students. Part of this process is seeking feedback from our high schools and building relationships with their administration, admissions staff, and other staff members. Stay tuned for more information.

  • Depending on the weather, we may have Mass outside tomorrow. If it rains, students will participate via livestream and communion will be brought over to students in grades 3 - 8. 6D, since they planned the Mass, will be at church with the other sixth grade classes.

  • Scholastic Book Fair Coin Challenge - Thank you for sending in dimes today. Tomorrow students can bring in quarters. On Friday, we are doing something new. A classroom out of each grade level will have the opportunity to win a dress down pass. The class will get to pick when they want to use it during the month of October. See additional information below. All money raised is used by teachers to buy books for their classroom libraries.

  • Picnic News - Make sure you vote. Do you want it in June or October? See the note below. Either way, it is sure to be great! Thanks to everyone who volunteered and attended a wonderful parish picnic!

Peace and Joy -

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to Sister Ann Francis and to Monsignor Joseph Simon! Both have celebrated their jubilee year this fall. We are grateful for their years of service to the church and to our parish and school community. The students made gratitude cards for them.:)

In October, we focus and learn about the Catholic Social Teaching of:

Care for God’s Creation.

We are called to care for all that God has made.

Thanks again to all who brought in items for Stray Rescue. We brought them thirteen bags of items and $100.

St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us!

Please keep our 2nd graders and their families in your prayers as the 2nd graders prepare to receive God's forgiveness and healing mercy in the sacrament of Reconciliation.

Act of Contrition

My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against You, whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In his name, my God, have mercy. Amen.

As we kick off the new school year, we will once again be utilizing our PFA website to sign up for volunteer opportunities and place orders for special lunches, treats, and PFA events throughout the year. It's important that we have updated information for families and students in the PFA website portal in order for parents to see the opportunities available for your student's class or grade. In particular, you must verify your child's homeroom teacher for the 2021/2022 school year. Please take a minute to visit the web site: Once you log in to your portal, you will see a blue highlighted prompt at the top of the page directing you to review and update your contact information. Please click on the Contact Information link below to update your information. If you have questions, please email the website administrator, Kyle Blondé at

Interested in helping our teachers focus on instruction and easing their load as they navigate this upcoming school year? The Home and School Committee of the PFA is looking for Room Coordinators for the 2021/2022 school year to do just that.

We are in need of one Room Coordinator per classroom in grades K-5, and one room coordinator per grade in grades 6-8. There will be additional opportunities in second grade to assist with events surrounding First Communion and Reconciliation.

The Room Coordinator will be the point of contact for each teacher to help with administrative-type tasks throughout the year. In addition, when specific help is requested by another PFA Board Committee, you will be the conduit enlisting other parents in your specific class or grade.

To allow for as many parent volunteers as possible across the different grade levels, each parent may sign up for only one position at this time. Sign ups will open on September 14th at 9am. You will only be able to sign up to volunteer through the PFA website, so be sure to create your PFA website family account, or update your PFA website information. For more information please contact Molly Sonderman at

Additional parent volunteers will be needed to support classroom holiday parties. Look for the sign-up link in early October!

2021 Picnic- Thank you!

On behalf of the entire Picnic Committee, I say THANK YOU!, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! The 2021 Parish Picnic was a tremendous success. We were blessed with fantastic weather and folks eager to gather together again. The picnic is not possible without everyone pulling together and volunteering their time. It requires 700+ volunteer hours between Thursday morning and early Sunday morning. This doesn’t’ include the countless hours the committee puts into its planning. It takes a tight nit and dedicated community to pull off this enormous endeavor. A special thank you goes out to the following: Monsignor Shamleffer, Eileen Garavaglia, Joan Miller, Judy Murphey, Trish Fanara, Margie Uxa, Steve Bettag, Ben Moramarco, Mandy Kozminske, Matt DeGreeff, Amanda DeGreeff, Mark Giles, Matt Sallaberry, Barb Rocchio, John Fuchs, Jason Burcke, Matt Luzecky, Jacque Clifton, Ashley Renfrow, Mike Bello, Mike Bello Jr., Joe Rolfi, and all of our generous Sponsors.

St. Gabriel the Archangel is a parish rich in tradition and passion. It deserves a celebration that brings parents, students, alumni, and the St. Louis Hills community together while also raising a few bucks. We will announce the financial results in the coming weeks.

We do have a decision to make for next year. Please complete the one question Survey Monkey below. Do you prefer the picnic in June or October? Your feedback will guide us in making a decision for 2022. The survey will be open until Sunday October 24th. We will announce the results prior to October 31st. Thank you!
