Dear Families,

We have officially entered the month of December! Thanks to everyone who came out for our "Celebrate Winter" PTA Family Engagement Night! We had fun making crafts and watching the puppet show! Thanks to all the families who volunteered their time to make this event a success.

This next week, we have our K fieldtrip and our K musical. Please check Friday folders for the times that students need to be at school on Tuesday (December 6th).

We have started our Winter Benchmark Assessments. Students will be assessed over academic and behavior/ social emotional learning progress. If you have a second or third grade student please fill out our opt-in or opt- out form:

Lost and Found items are available in our front office. Please stop by if you are missing any items!

Standards-Based Grading information can be found below. We have transitioned from letter grades to standards-based grading as a K-5 system.

Safety: We have implemented increased security measures. Visitors will not be allowed to enter the building during arrival or dismissal. All visitors will need to call ahead or use the door bell at the entrance.

Attendance- Please call us at 913-727-1128 in the event your student will not be at school, will be in to school late, or will need to leave early.

Traffic: Please remain in your vehicles during car-rider pick up. Thank you for following our traffic protocol.

Going Home: Please remember to call in any ride changes before 3 PM. The number to call is 913-727-1128.

Bus Transportation: must be pre-arranged by families. If your student rides the bus, you may want to use the Compass app (see info below). This provides parents and guardians about bus information in real-time.

Breakfast/Lunch: School meals are available for purchase this year. Information about free and/or reduced meals can be found here:

Our next PTA meeting is December 15 in the LES library. Doors open at 6:00 for social time and the meeting starts at 6:30. Free childcare is available. If you are interested in joining, you can still do that.

Before/After School care: Please see Y-care flyers below. Parents/Guardians using Y-care, this year, will enter on the west side (2nd and 3rd grade side) through doors 20 & 21. If you need care on late start days, please find information below.

STUCO is going to sell Candy Grams this year. We will sell them next week. Wednesday through Friday from 8-8:30 in the cafeteria on the 2/3 side. The Candy Grams are 25¢ each. We will be putting it together according to class and deliver them on Friday the 16th.

Lansing Elementary School Recess Weather Policy 22-23

Morning Arrival Procedures

Please plan to drop off students between 8:00 am-8:30am (M-W & F) and 9:00-9:30am on Late Start Thursdays. If you utilize Y-Care, please sign students in with them EACH day.

Car rider pick up procedures

Please follow the traffic pattern and remain in your vehicle (unless buckling/unbuckling) during pick up and drop off. Please position car seats so students are exiting/entering the car curb- side. If you are picking up students in multiple grades, they can all be picked up at the youngest student's location. Please indicate that on the pick-up list. If you need assistance, please call the office at 913-727-1128. If dropping off after 8:30, please sign in students in the office. If you need to pick up early, please call ahead & have your ID ready.
