Class of 2021: Want to be in Law Enforcement or a 911 Dispatcher?
MTI has added two new programs for next year (2020-21). They are for SENIORS (Class of 2021) only.
Law Enforcement Professional
MTI’s Law Enforcement Professional program will provide high school seniors interested in a career in law enforcement the opportunity to prepare for the police academy or immediate entry-level employment opportunities with local law enforcement agencies after high school graduation. This hands-on, mentoring program consists of courses exposing students to the components of the criminal justice system, ethics and discretion, physical fitness, defensive tactics, criminal law, investigations, report writing, and firearm familiarity. Students will experience scenario-based trainings conducted by local law enforcement officers.
911 Dispatch/Public Safety Telecommunications This program is open to seniors who are interested in preparing for a lucrative career as a certified Public Safety Telecommunicator (911 Dispatcher). Students will have the opportunity to certify as a State of Florida Telecommunicator. A 911 Telecommunicator answers emergency and non-emergency calls from the public. Skills include how to prioritize calls and talking to the caller while help responds. Students will get hands-on real world experience with local organizations such as Ocala Fire Rescue, Marion County Fire Rescue, and Marion County Public Safety.
Attention Dual Enrollment Students!
Dual Enrollment Students:
Check your CF portal to make sure the classes you have requested are on your portal.
Make sure you are added to our Remind account. Text @defhs to 81010 to be added.
Reminders:
· Students with 10-20 credit hours, need to schedule an advising appointment at the college. You will be dropped from classes without that appointment before you reach 30 hours.
· Check your portal and click on your degree audit button. This will let you know what requirements have been met and which ones are missing. This is super important to understand.
· Always know your deadlines…for application, registration, drop/add AND withdrawal dates. Deadlines are NOT flexible.
