A Message from Dr. Bearden
There was a lot going on at SHE during the past week and a bunch of great things coming up!
Veterans Day, Monday, November 11th: Staff and students are wearing red, white, and blue to honor all who serve to protect American freedoms. Any active duty military and first responders are always welcome to eat lunch at Summit Hill ES on any day at no charge. Thank you for your service!
#BeKindToEveryone Banner Campaign: www.bekindtoeveryone.com SHE was chosen as the first school in Fulton County to host a 10 X 6 foot "Be the I in K__ND" banner. There are 11 banners total. the banner is currently hanging in the rotunda outside the cafe. We want to encourage anyone visiting SHE cafeteria to take the time to get a picture made as the "I" in K__ND and then post on your social media accounts tagging #bekindtoeveryone! On Thursday, November 14th, I will take the banner to another school in FCS and they will keep it for a week, with the same process! We are hoping that the banner circulates through as many schools as possible this school year!! I encourage you to also visit www.bekindtoeveryone.com or visit Jordyn's Summer Shirt Project on Facebook to read about an incredible young girl named Jordyn and her BeKindToEveryone movement that has swept social media. Kindness is free and it Matters!!
Principal Chat on November 12th at 9 am. Topics: Digital Citizenship for Families :
On November 12th at 9 am in the Media Center. Dr. Bearden's special guest this month is Melisa Eichele, our METI. Ms. Eichele manages our Media Center and as well leads in the area of instructional technology. She will present a workshop for families on "Digital Citizenship at Home". As a society, we are becoming more dependent on the Internet for information, research, shopping, social media, etc. The Internet is a huge digital "space" and there is content available, which may not be appropriate for all. Ms. Eichele delivers our Digital Citizenship trainings for staff and students as well. During this seminar, Ms. Eichele will share the FCS Digital Citizenship training with parents, which we hope will help to reinforce the importance of digital citizenship at school and home. You don't want to miss this one.
CCRPI Score Update by Dr. Bearden: On October 25th, the Georgia Department of Education released the 2019 College and Career Ready Progress Index (CCRPI) score for each school. Dr. Bearden will the break down of the score, see the disaggrated data, and hear about next steps for SHE in alignment with the four pillars of the strategic plan and our Leader in Me culture.
As usual, Dr. Bearden will hold a question and answer session with any parents. After the Principal Chat, guests are welcome to walk our halls and visit our playground area for the next 10-15 minutes to tour the school. Staff and students will be involved in school routine and we ask that guests do not enter classrooms and/or distract students during instructional activities.
