Principal's Message....

Hello RCES Families,

I hope everyone is healthy and safe. I want to thank our families for the continued support during these unprecedented times. Everyone seems to be comfortable navigating the instructional platforms and the virtual class meetings are going well. I love to see the kids smiles and hear the laughter when I pop in the meetings. We know it has been an adjustment for everyone and again I want to reiterate how much we appreciate your support and cooperation as we finish the year remotely. Please don't ever hesitate to reach out to the teachers or myself with questions, ideas or concerns. Now, more than ever, we need to keep the lines of communication open and work as partners in your child's learning. We have three weeks of instruction remaining. Please continue to check your email and the Remote Learning page for RCES.

Remote Learning Schedule: The Monday and Friday check-ins are very important for all of our students to attend. We know that some situations don't allow for everyone to make all the meetings, but please try to have your child there if possible. If your child is unable to check-in virtually, please email or contact the teacher on Monday to discuss the assignments for the week. Keeping a consistent schedule over the next three weeks is VERY important. Young learners do best when they have clear times during the day designated for school work and a consistent bedtime. Routines and schedules will help keep them engaged and focused for the remainder of the year.

Teacher Appreciation Week May 4th - 8th.

FORCES has put together some activities to thank the teaching staff at RCES. (The information is below.) Our creative FORCES group has suggestions and fun ways to honor and celebrate our staff each day next week, remotely. Thank you FORCES! We appreciate everything you do for the students and staff at RCES.

As a staff, we also want to thank our families for stepping in and supporting RCES and your child during this remote learning time. We appreciate you!

5th Grade Students at RCES Honored

Once a year I get the opportunity to honor and celebrate two fifth grade students from RCES during our Annual Illinois Principals Association Recognition Breakfast. This year we didn't get to attend the breakfast, but I wanted to recognize these wonderful RCES students.

This year's RCES 5th graders are - Frank Crotty and Gracie Robinson

I want to congratulate Gracie and Frank and wish them good luck at RCMS!

We are so proud of both of you!

Frank Crotty

  • Future Goals: Frank plans to attend college and then work in construction, following in his father’s footsteps. He loves helping his family and learning from them.
  • Words of Wisdom: "Always be kind!"
