Principal's Message

October 8th, 2021

From the SWAMP- On behalf of the staff at Lorne Akins we want to wish everyone a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving! Have a great long weekend and look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday!

Bus Lane “Drop and Go” - IF you are dropping your children off in the AM, please pull all the way to the end of the bus lane.. That will leave enough room for busses to pull in to drop students off. Also, please note that there is no parking for two bus lengths on the north end of the bus lane (before the actual bus lane).

Concession - Open now on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:05-12:45. Menu items range in price from $0.50-$2.00.

Gator Gear - IF you would like to order, please do! Please visit our website and follow the link. Orders will be processed here in the school and the turnaround time is really quick!

COVID-19 - We have had a total of 2 cases this school year. Please continue to do the Daily Screening Checklist with your child each morning.

Parent Council - Our first Parent Council meeting will take place Thursday Oct. 14th at 6 pm. This will be a virtual meeting, and a “google meet” link will be released next week. Please join us if you are interested!

RCMP Const. Burrows - The Swamp will greet our School Resource Officer as she presents to each grade level about the importance of speaking and acting respectfully to one another. The presentation will also discuss the use of and importance of safe language as well as the consequences of engaging in inappropriate language or actions.

Pizza Friday - Every Friday we will be selling Nitza’s Pizza 8” pizzas for $6.00. They will arrive individually packaged and handed in a COVID safe fashion. Students can choose between cheese, pepperoni or ham and pineapple. If you are interested please have your child bring cash to their homeroom teacher on Thursday of that week.

Lets go GATORS!!

If your child will be absent, please email or call 780-460-3728 (this is 24 hrs and you can leave a voicemail)

If a student needs to leave early, the office MUST hear from a parent. Please email or call the office and we will allow the student to sign out & meet you outside (or walk home).

If a student will arrive late, they are to sign in at the office, and will be given a late slip. If we have been informed the student will be late, that will be an excused late. Without hearing from a parent, the student would be marked as unexcused.

If you have any questions, please ask the office.
