Marzano's Strategies
- Provide a description, explanation, or example of the new term.
- Ask students to restate the description, explanation, or example in their own words
- Ask students to construct a picture, symbol, or graphic representing the word.
- Engage students periodically in activities that help them add to their knowledge of the terms in their notebooks.
- Periodically ask students to discuss the terms with one another.
- Involve students in games that enable them to play with terms and reinforce word knowledge.
Organizing Vocabulary
Word Clouds
Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text.
Concept Mapping
Used as a mind-map, Popplet helps students think and learn visually. Students can capture facts, thoughts, and images and learn to create relationships between them.
Technology Word Wall
Padlet-Build a word wall that everyone can add to from any computer. Add pictures, video, and links to words on the wall.
