Principal's Reflection

Kia ora koutou

Cross Country enthusiasts would say it was ideal conditions for our school cross country yesterday, the previous few days' weather provided a little bit of mud and a few wet and slippery spots.

This is the first cross country event we have had in two years with spectators able to attend. It was great to see parents on-site cheering the children on. We were blessed with great weather, the sun was out. The children performed brilliantly well and there were many examples of resilience and striving for excellence. Thank you so much to Nicole Higby and Jenna Lord for heading up the organisation of this event and a whole team of staff who assisted with laying out the course and helping with marshalling, first aid and many other jobs on the day.

Congratulations also to all the children who tried so hard and completed the course when running is not really “their thing.” Well done to all those who received a top three placing in their division and we look forward to seeing who will be representing us at the interschool cross country event. Well done to you all.

I think it was all agreed to get the cross country event completed, in today's environment we are always juggling delays and rescheduling, wasn’t it great to see an event run to plan no disruptions just an outstanding day enjoyed by all.

Thank you for all your support over the past 10 weeks in Debra White absence. We look to her return to school next week.

Gospel Reflection

Twenty-first Sunday of Ordinary Time

Few Will Be Chosen Luke 13: 22-30

In Sunday’s gospel reading, Jesus reminds us the way to God’s kingdom is by following God’s way through our words and actions. This isn’t easy to do, and throughout our lives we will often fail and make mistakes. Each of us must try to live our lives every day as well as we possibly can. When we put our faith into concrete action, our yes to Jesus becomes real not only in our lives but in the lives of others. Being a follower and disciple ofJesus today requires some effort and commitment from us.

Charism Focus

Our Charism focus for this term is LIVE FAITH. This week we are focusing on our faith inspiring action. Living our Faith this term is about putting into action our belief and trust in GOD.

Jesus is more concerned about our walk with Him than our talk about Him. He wants us to do what is right, not just say the words. We see many people who talk the “Christian” talk, but their actions don't show it.

How can we live a life of faith and love that brings hope to others? We believe in Jesus by not just what you say but by what we do. Putting our faith into actions that show what we believe.

Can you remember a time when you did something for someone out of kindness and love from your heart? Did you expect some kind of reward or favour in return? Living our Faith -this term is about putting into action our belief and trust in GOD- showing that love to others. Being the hands, face and voice of Jesus to those we meet.

All Parents from Year 5 to Year 8

We would appreciate some community feedback on optional devices being available as a choice in our year 7&8 senior school. We are getting many requests from students, parents and staff that students in the year 7&8 area are able to bring their own devices to school for the purpose of school work. We are not looking at making this compulsory, there will always be a school device available for students to use here at school, but we are considering an option that they can use their own device here at school, and as with school devices there are protocols around use and access. We would appreciate it if you take the time to share your opinion.
