FORT WORTH ISD CELEBRATES VALEDICTORIANS AND SALUTATORIANS FOR THE CLASS OF 2020

As the Fort Worth ISD continues to celebrate all graduates of the Class of 2020 the District is especially proud of those seniors who have attained the honors of valedictorian and salutatorian.

“Vals and sals” are those students with the highest and second-highest class rank respectively. To be eligible for such recognition, the student must:

  • Have completed the foundation program with the distinguished level of achievement; and
  • Have completed 19 credits before the first day of the school year in which graduation requirements are completed; and
  • Have continuously enrolled in the same District high school for the two school years immediately preceding graduation.

Additional information about each student can be located on the Fort Worth ISD website.

ONLINE GRADUATION CEREMONIES SCHEDULED

The Fort Worth ISD is preparing to celebrate the Class of 2020 with virtual graduations on Saturday, June 20. The following week students may also choose to participate in outdoor ‘in-person’ celebrations, following recently-issued TEA guidelines for such ceremonies.

Virtual graduation is an online streaming event that highlights each individual graduate. Technology will allow students to share photos of themselves in cap and gown – as well a personalized video message as they “move the tassel” to indicate their status as newly-minted graduates.

Graduating seniors will receive individual notices from their schools providing instructions to participate in the online ceremony.

PRECAUTIONS FOR OUTDOOR FORT WORTH ISD GRADUATION CELEBRATIONS

The Fort Worth ISD has prepared a number of suggested precautions to help protect the health and safety of all our graduates and families attending any of the scheduled outdoor Graduation Celebrations being held at Clark Stadium or Farrington Field between June 19 and June 26, 2020.

>>Be aware of the following symptoms before arriving at the stadium. Please do not attend the celebration if you are experiencing any of the symptoms from the list.

>>Click here to view precautionary measures while at the stadium.

All Fort Worth ISD employees or contractors present at the Graduation Celebrations will complete a wellness screening prior to each event; they will wear face masks and gloves; and they will adhere to social distancing and hygiene protocol per recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and the Texas Department of State Health Services.

It is the intention of the Fort Worth ISD to make each Graduation Celebration a joyous and memorable occasion for our well-deserving graduates and their families. Your cooperation with a few safety steps will help make this possible for all involved.
