Myers-Wilkins Wolf Tracks

November 2017 - Issue 4

Greetings!

We are entering the holiday season. It's that time of the year where the weather is chilly, the leaves have turned color and fallen off the trees and we want hot chocolate for comfort. This is always my favorite time of the year.

I want to thank you for our successful parent teacher conferences. We had a great turn out of parents. Several families were also able to participate in providing input on finalizing Myers-Wilkins mission/vision statement. We appreciate your participation and look forward to adding your suggestions and keeping the parts you like/support.

We had a great Community Resource Fair family night in October. What a fantastic night to of delicious food and connections with community partnerships!

Just a reminder to send your student(s) with a labeled coat, hat, mitten/gloves. If you need support with this please contact Stephan Witherspoon at ext. 2501. Also remember to check the lost in found if your child has lost a piece of clothing.

We have a ton of exciting things coming up in November and December. We hope all of our students can participate with your support. Please ensure to read on and mark your calendars.

Go Wolves! Paw Pride!

What is our school social emotional focus for November?

November’s focus will be all about being grateful and thankful for all that we have in our lives. Staff will be working on short lessons with students and leading discussions that will help students to understand that we always, always, always have something to be thankful for. We will kick off our month of gratitude with an all-school assembly on Friday, November 3rd at 1:15 p.m. We will also be awarding our October Leaders of the Pack. We look forward to spending November with students and letting them know just how thankful we are for each and every one of them.

Family Dinner Night with our Parent Student Advisory Council

Myers-Wilkins has a very active and inclusive parent group. We get together the second Tuesday of each month. This year we are changing things up a bit and will be meeting throughout the community and having family dinner nights. Mark your calendars for our second family dinner night!!! It will be on Tuesday November 14th. We would like as many parents as possible to be a part of this night. We will have a dinner and informal conversation about happenings in the school, community and important topics to our parents. There is child care and if you need a ride here you can contact Jen Eddy from our collaborative @ ext 2459. Family dinner night will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!
