School Mall Fundraiser Information was sent home today.
Dear Parents,
We are excited to announce that our school is participating in the SchoolMall program. Your student is bringing home an envelope with the words “Parents Please Help Us” across the top. Please take 10 minutes to complete the materials in the envelope and return them to school. That is all you have to do for your student to earn a prize and our school to earn money.
Click on this link to learn more about the fundraiser and the prizes your child may earn.
Participating stores - you shop online and we earn a percentage of your purchase.
The funds raised will be used to help purchase new benches for the entry of MCE.
Motivate, Challenge, Encourage - Stellar Students!
Please check your email and text messages regularly to ensure you are receiving all communications from school. If you ever have any questions, concerns or suggestions; don't hesitate to give us a call or schedule a meeting with your child's teacher.
Montgomery City Elementary Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Blue pick up passes were put in Friday Folders today. These cards are to be kept in your car to notify the teachers on duty you have permission to pick up a child from school. The blue cards need to be placed in plain view on your dash or against your driver's side window. If you have a grandparent, or someone different picking up your child, please make sure they have your card. This informs us you gave them permission to pick up.
If we do not know this person, we will still check their ID and make sure they are on your approved pick up list.
Let us know if you have any questions.
Sharing of Directory Information
I want to make parents aware that we are allowed to share directory information with parents, PTO, and other outside agencies that request such information. Generally at MCE we only share names, addresses and phone numbers when requested. However you should be aware that our our handbook states:
Directory Information Notice
The family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a Federal law, requires that Montgomery County R-II, with certain exceptions, obtain your written consent prior to the disclosure of personally identifiable information from your child’s education records. However, Montgomery County R-II may disclose appropriately designated “directory information” without written consent, unless you have advised the district to the contrary in accordance with district procedures to not release this information. The primary purpose of directory information is to allow the Montgomery County R-II to include this type of information from your child’s education records in certain school publications. Examples include:
- A playbill, showing your student’s role in a drama production;
- The annual yearbook
- Honor roll or other recognition lists
- Graduation programs;
- Sports activity sheets, such as for wrestling, showing weight and height of team members.
Directory information, which is information that is generally not considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if released, can also be disclosed to outside organizations without a parents’ prior written consent. Outside organizations include, but are not limited to; companies that manufacture class rings of publish yearbooks. In addition, two federal laws require local educational agencies (LEAs) receiving assistance under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) to provide military recruiters, upon request, with three directory information categories – names, addresses and telephone listings – unless parents have advised the LEA that they do not want their student’s information disclosed without their prior written consent.
If you do not want Montgomery County R-II to disclose directory information from your child’s education records without your prior written consent, you must notify the District in writing. Montgomery County R-II has designated the following information as directory information:
- Student’s name
- Parent’s name
- Address
- Telephone listing
- Enrollment status (full-time or part-time)
- Electronic mail address
- Photograph
- Participation in officially recognized activities and sports.
- Weight and height of members of athletic teams
- Degrees, honors, and awards received
- Date and place of birth
- Major field of study
- Dates of attendance
- Grade Level

Help us ensure your child's safety at the end of the day!
If you need to make a change to your child’s normal routine you must send a note with your child in the morning. If it is an emergency, you must call and speak to a secretary before 2pm. Do not leave a message on the school answering service. The answering service is to report absences only, and it is not checked throughout the day.
We will not make any changes after 2pm. Our goal is to get every student safely to their correct destination at the end of each day. We need your help to make sure this happens.
You must opt in to receive text messages from School Messenger
