Te Whare Akoranga o Maungawhau, August 4, 2022
From The Principal
I’d like to congratulate our Chess Team this week for achieving 2nd place (by an extremely narrow margin!) in the Regional Final, with players Pippa and Johnny qualifying to compete at National level. This is an outstanding achievement and a credit to the whole team.
Next week, we are looking forward to celebrating Maths Week, with a range of engaging maths-related activities across the school. This is a perfect opportunity to celebrate our approach to authentic mathematical problem-solving in a fun and collaborative way at all year levels, and we’re sure the children will enjoy the many opportunities on offer.
Looking ahead, next week brings the Rugby and Rippa Zones competition, which the teams have been training hard for, and I know everyone will be wishing all of our participants the best of luck.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge all those who have now put their names forward as nominees for the upcoming Board Election. It’s exciting to see the diverse expertise and wealth of enthusiasm for our school that is on offer, and we’re looking forward to welcoming and working alongside the new Board following the election in early September.
If you have not already done so, we encourage all parents to complete the survey below to share your priorities in support of the incoming Board as we work towards developing our goals for the next few years, so please don't miss this opportunity to get involved and let us know your thoughts.

It is less than 2 weeks until our Back to School Quiz. There is still time to get a table together or purchase a single ticket to join a table.
This is going to be a great night, at a great venue – and with an awesome entertainment crew of dads including Quiz master Ben and DJ Nick. The school gates are a buzz with chat of costumes - Look Sharp may be busy on August 13th!
Due to demand, more tickets have been released - get your table or single tickets today.
On the evening we will have a live auction and raffle. Read more here about the exciting items up for grabs.
Fun at the Fair
There are preparations underway for the fair, we need help with a few key roles - this is to help with stalls on the day and in the lead up to the November event.

It’s not as scary as it sounds – you will have a lot of support, you might make new friends and you will have fun!
- We will help you to co-ordinate
- We will assist with questions
- We will be there to get you set up on the day
Our Fair is our pride (big community event) we love the ‘family feel’ on the day.

Following on from the success of March's collection, we will be running another collection in the lead up to Novembers Food & Fun Fair. We welcome all quality items! Simply drive in the MENPS staff car park and onto the Top Courts to drop off any of the following:

August PTA Meeting - online
Thanks to the parents, caregivers and senior school representative that attended this months meeting.
We discussed the success of ice blocks in week 1, the Calendar Art campaign and the Food & Fun fair collection dates. We also covered off recent ticket sales and plans for the upcoming Quiz night. Full minutes are available here.
For the September meeting we have put a call out for fundraising ideas. In 2023 it is unlikely we will have a Food and Fun Fair so we can return to the more favourable Term 1 timing in 2024. With this in mind we need a roster of new and proven fundraising activities for 2023. Please join us at the start of September if you have ideas or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Support our school by eating a delicious Roast at The Bridgman.
Seems too easy but $10 of every kids meal goes directly to our school funds. All you need to do is book your table and put MENPS into the ‘requests’ box and they will donate the profits of your kids meals back to the school.
Just book here - The Bridgman | Corner of Dominion & Valley Roads | Carefully curated food, drinks & cocktails.
