The Principal's Desk At Sycamore

Week of May 7th

Thank you!

We have just 13 days left of school. I appreciate all of you for continuing to support our school initiatives, events and academic and behavioral expectations. This time of year can go very fast, and before you know it, we are handing out awards and sending our 5th graders to their new middle school life.

Also, at this time, of year, students can become anxious and excited about the summer and what's to come. With this known, they may need a gentle reminder about positive behavior, and completing school work and homework assignments efficiently. Please remind your children to finish strong and continue to behave positively and work diligently. We are very proud of our students and all they have accomplished and want them to enjoy these last days with their friends and classmates.

We have 90+ new kindergartners coming to Sycamore!

This past Thursday, we had a little over 90 students register to come to Sycamore! This has been one of our highest numbers in a long time! We are extremely excited to welcome these new faces into our school next year! If you weren't able to make it on Thursday, please register online for the 2018-2019 school year and then call the office for registration times and needs. We look forward to supporting you!

Thank you Parents and Volunteers!

Our parents and community members are excellent supporters for our students and staff. In April, we celebrated all of these individuals at our Annual Volunteer Tea! Thank you for pouring into our school in such great ways! We awarded, our Path Project Director, Anissa Lotti, with the "Austin Legacy Award" for her service and dedication to our students who attend the Path Project after school in their neighborhood. Thank you Anissa for all you do for us! If you would like to also support this amazing volunteer opportunity, please reach out to Anissa at Sugar Hill Church to hear all about how you can also give back!

3rd-5th grade Parents

Georgia Milestones scores continue to roll in. We will report out the comprehensive scores for all subjects once we receive all subjects, which should be very soon. We will prepare letters to go home, that will inform you of your child's status, need for summer school or extra support. We are pleased with our student's hard work and also your unrelenting support. They took it seriously and worked to do well every day! Thanks for helping Sycamore shine in our community in such a positive way.

Thank you!

The past three years, I have been working on my doctorate at the University of Georgia. This Friday, I graduated among amazing colleagues, family and friends. Thank you for being supportive these past three years as I worked to learn more about schools, leadership and this awesome profession. I am excited to have completed this accomplishment among such great students, staff and parents like you.

ID at the front desk for entry

Our school and district rule is to show ID at the front desk for all visits and for dropping items off for students. With security being at the forefront of our responsibility, please have your ID ready at all times. When we don't view your ID, it makes our processes inconsistent and we want to prevent any security pockets in our processes. We appreciate your support.
