Helping You Stay Informed
Calendar Considerations for 2017-2018
We are asking for your input on next year's calendar. KISD is considering many calendar options under the provisions of the District of Innovation.
- One of those options is to consider an earlier start date and/or earlier dismissal date.
- We will still be required to serve students for 75, 600 minutes in a school year.
- Currently, our teachers must work a total of 187 days.
- We must allow extra days to train our staff members before the start of the school year.
- We must consider the following dates for state testing: December 4-8, 2017, April 3-6, 2018, and May 7-11, 2018.
- We are required to include two bad weather days into the calendar.
- Planning for a little extra time into the calendar helps us stay away from waivers in case we need to have a late start, or an earlier end date.
Childcare Considerations
Please consider childcare times and needs.
School Bus Route
Please consider bus routes and the impact of students being picked up and dropped off at certain times.
Feeding Students
We feed many children breakfast in the morning. Please keep this as a consideration as well.

Extra Curricular Activities
Krum ISD strives to create a positive environment where students grow both inside and outside of the classroom. We have many students who participate in athletics, band, choir, FFA, photojournalism, clubs, sports medicine, student leadership teams, UIL, and many others. These activities, paired with the time needed to spend with their families, at church, or other outside activities makes deciding on the calendar an important decision.
