Weekly Report
Awards day is coming up May 25 @ 8:30. Third graders attend the same program as 4th and 5th graders. There are not as many 3rd grade awards as 4th and 5th grade awards. Attending this program allows the kids to see what is available to them in the coming years. I know parents are always unsure whether or not to attend. Here is a list of the awards third graders can receive:
AM 100 Club, AR Top Reader, P.E., Good Citizens, Read-a-thon, Student Council, Girls on the Run, Bolinger Award, Perfect Attendance, and Robotics (we don't have any). If your child is a recipient of citizenship or the 3rd grade Bolinger award, I will contact you.
I also give some awards in class for qualities I notice about the kids. They are fun-spirited. These are kids and this is school. I want them to feel important and noticed and recognize that.
Reading---We will read a chapter book next week called "Socks." This is a great way to end the year. We will have a story quiz the last week of school over the book.
Math-We will continue to skip around in the math book for the remainder of the year. The last section of the book is a look at 4th grade. The workbook will come home and I encourage your child to work in it over the summer.
Spelling--words from our chapter book "Socks" Test on Fri.
Social Studies--We will continue learning about our economy. Chapters 11 & 12 will have a combined test the last week of school. News stories can still report on May 15 and May 22.
English--We are continuing on with Unit 6. The test will be the week of May 15th.
