**Important Message from Ms. Arnold**

Hi GAA Parents

It is time for us to do our Benchmark Testing.

Please watch this video for more information about our MAP Benchmark: what it is, what we use it for and how to take it.

AFTER watching the video, please sign your child up for testing.

We have two options for testing: 1. In-person or 2. Virtual.

I highly recommend in-person testing. Coming onto campus to complete the test will give students a quiet setting in which to complete the test. If issues should arise, we are able to quickly and easily fix them so as to not have an effect on their testing. Testing in-person also helps teachers with knowing the results are an accurate representation of what the student can do independently. Each testing session is only 2 hours long and there will be less than 10 students in each room at one time, socially distanced and wearing masks. Disinfecting will occur between each testing session.

If you are not comfortable with your child coming on campus, you can schedule them for virtually testing. They will need to be signed on to a Zoom meeting while taking their MAP Benchmark so that the teacher can see and hear them. We want to make sure that students are completing their tests individually. Parents of younger students can help students maneuver the mouse and click and/or drag items. Parents cannot read ANY part of the Reading assessment to the student. Parents can read the MATH questions and answers. Parents cannot re-word, rephrase, or explain any of the questions. Sessions during the school day will be with their grade-level teacher. Evening sessions will be with me. If we need to add more sessions the following week, we will.

No matter what setting you are choosing for testing, all students must sign up for two testing sessions: one for Reading and one for Math. Fourth & eighth grade students must sign up for a third Science session.

To sign up for IN-PERSON sessions, click here.

To sign up for VIRTUAL sessions, click here.

If you have any questions about sign up, please let me know.

Note on School Messenger- It's the same code for all districts and schools. ie: if you have students in another school you'll receive messages from both schools on the same text number. Ours will start off with "GAA Families" or "GAA Mustangs"- something like that so you know it's from us 📱😉

We also recommend saving our school phone number in your phone so you know it's us calling 480-325-6100
