CLASS OF 2020

End of Year Guidance

June 2, 2020

Principal's Edition

Hello Class of 2020 and families,

I hope your are all safe and well despite our present circumstances. It has been quite an exceptional year for our graduating class. While this is not the end of the year plans we anticipated, we still hope to make it memorable for our 8th graders! When thinking about how to recognize the many accomplishments of the graduating class, there were many considerations made, with safety as our top priority.

We appreciate our students, parents, and community as we work through the guidelines we received from the school district in making the best decision for our students, staff, parents, and our community. With your cooperation, we are sure to commemorate the class of 2020, Sayre style!

Returning School Property

  • The school is currently working on a schedule that permits families to come to Sayre to retrieve items left during school closing in March. 8th-grade retrieval date will be the last group scheduled to coincide with pick up of final report cards, diplomas and transcripts.

  • 8th graders who are not recommended to Online Summer School will be asked to return school distributed devices (Chromebooks or Ipads) by June 19th between the hours of 9am-1pm. Please ring the doorbell at the Main Entrance. Please also return any library books or school equipment at that time.
Big picture

8th Grade Fees and New York Trip Reimbursement

Thank you for your flexibility and patience as we work through the logistics of generating reimbursements for 8th-grade fees and/or New York Trip. We anticipate being able to mail or schedule pick ups starting the week of June 8th. Please look out for an email from Ms. Donatelli indicating that your check has been mailed is ready for pick up.

GRAD PACKS DELIVERY- JUNE 5th

Parents,

The 8th grade teachers and admin will be delivering special 8th grade packages directly to students on June 5th! We have asked each student to share their current address. Please help us in ensuring they have filled this out by June 4th. Deliveries will occur between the hours of 11am and 4pm. In the packages, please keep the green and yellow ribbon and bring it to the graduation ceremony for a special recognition of all our parent support!

Celebrating the Class of 2020

Graduation

Our ultimate goal is to celebrate the Class of 2020 in-person when it is deemed safe to do so by the school district. Until then, we will acknowledge the graduating class with a unique, drive-thru ceremony on June 15th at 5pm in the Sayre parking lot.

This festive and celebratory drive-thru will include music, a video of class presentations and 8th-grade memories, and recognition of graduates by teachers to congratulate the 8th-grade class, and more!

It is imperative that every family understands that only one vehicle per graduate will be permitted on the premises. Absolutely no getting out of vehicles will be permitted. We want this to be a special evening for our graduates so please adhere to all traffic signs and designated parking spots. The event will be Live streamed on Facebook for extended family members to view. Please email admin at fuadekunle@cps.edu and amdonatelli@cps.edu if you have any questions or concerns.

2nd Round on GoCPS

As our graduates prepare to begin their next chapter in education, please do not forget to check GoCps using the email you enrolled with to find out about Roun 2 decisions and wait lists. Round 2 decisions will be shared on GoCps on June 15th. Principal decision come out on June 12th.
