Westwood families,
March is just a few days away and trimester 3 is coming fast.
This week, by Friday, February 26, we are asking families who want to request a learning model change for trimester 3 to make those requests to our main office. For grades 7 and 8, please know that it is our hope that students attending school in the Modified Campus (hybrid) will transition to full-time learning at school in trimester 3. Any requests to change will impact teachers and class roster. Keep these things in mind as you consider making any requests.
Families of sixth grade students, the transition to middle school is more than just a walk across the hallway. We’re looking forward to providing an orientation to what you can expect at virtual information sessions on March 4. We’ve worked to provide some schedule-friendly times to join us live – and the information will be recorded. Details are in the "Need to Know" section of this newsletter.
I’ve had a few questions so want to share with families that earlier this week, we experienced an accidental lockdown drill at Westwood that lasted just a few moments after someone unintentionally pressed a button. Everyone responded quickly and within a few minutes, we determined it was an accident and were able to communicate that to the building. Our students and staff did a great job.
Finally, I hope you’ll join me online on Saturday evening for the Panthers for a Purpose virtual giving event. The program begins at 7 p.m., and there is a silent auction that will be open until 8:30 p.m. Get a peek at the program in the video included in this newsletter. The virtual event is free and will feature some familiar Westwood faces. It’s fun for a good cause.
Have a good week.

For 6th grade families: Transition to Middle School March 4
We hope you can join us for next week's Transition to Middle School virtual sessions on Thursday, March 4.
These sessions are a great way for families to learn more about the transition to middle school, learn about curriculum choices and get answers to any questions you may have. The content of each presentation will be the same so families only need to attend one session.
Plan to attend a virtual session during one of these three times on Thursday, March 4
- Coffee and Conversations - 9 a.m. - WebEx Link
- Lunch and Learn - Noon - WebEx Link
- Dessert and Discuss - 6:30 p.m. - WebEx Link
Not able to make one of these sessions? No worries, there will also be a recorded presentation available to families after these sessions with the same information.
For any questions, please contact the Westwood office at 763-600-5300.
