Congratulations to Miss Pakkebier

Leader in Me in is not only taught at Hanawalt -- the adults use the Habits in their daily lives. Here is a note from Miss Pakkebier:

This past weekend, I was lucky enough to be able to participate in and finish the New York City Marathon! I often talk to my students about how my training for the marathon follows a lot of the 7 Habits we learn about at school. Back in early June, I used Habit 2, "Begin with the End in Mind", to plan out my training runs so I would be prepared to run my goal of 26.2 miles in November. I also use Habit 3, "Put First things First" each day when I have a training run to make sure I schedule enough time to complete my run. If I go home from school and start watching TV, I am often not motivated to go run. Instead, I try and get my run done right after school before going home and watching TV to make sure I complete each training run. Running is not about winning or losing, it's about celebrating each person's unique accomplishments. Celebrating these personal accomplishments uses Habit 6 "Synergize".

Hanawalt Community Notes

R Party

Hanawalt Families! Saturday, November 12 is the annual R Party, hosted by the Roosevelt Foundation. As future Riders, this event will support infrastructure needs of Roosevelt activities, which will have a lasting impact on programs. This work directly translates to supporting Hanawalt students when they get to Roosevelt. However, the R Party is more than just a fundraiser for Roosevelt. Proceeds from the R Party are given back to the feeder schools. In fact, last year Hanawalt received a grant for our SEL programming. Get tickets to support this community endeavor at https://www.trhsfoundation.org/rparty
