Hoping for a Full Week!
I don't know about you, but I am super excited to get back into a routine with work and family. I have my fingers crossed that we will actually get 5 full days of school in this week. We have lots of learning to do in ELA and Math, plus we also get to spend time in the STEAM Lab this week. That's always a ton of fun!
ELA
In ELA this week, we will be working on Unit 10 in Vocabulary. Our words for the week are: actual, brink, chill, conquer, fortunate, fury, intend, pattern, vibrant, and wit. We started on our homework packet in class this morning. It is due on Friday. I highly encourage the kiddos to go online and visit www.vocabularyworkshop.com to practice their words for the week. If they do that, they can count that time towards their nightly reading.
Speaking of nightly reading, don't forget I expect the kids to read and log 15 minutes each night, Monday thru Thursday, in their agenda. They can write the title of the book they read and all you have to do is initial.
We will read several fairy tales this week, beginning with Rumpelstiltskin. We will discuss the elements of a fairy tale, dialogue, and point of view through our reading. We will also begin working on persuasive writing. It should be a fun week!
Math
In Math this week, we will begin Unit 6. We will focus on subtraction using the trade-first method towards the beginning of the week. As the week moves on we will learn more about multiplication with larger factors and division.
