Mrs. Reiber's Apple Newsletter
November 14, 2016
Important Reminders
- Each night, the white folder will come home with your child, along with their agenda. The agenda will have assignments and spelling words written in it. The folder will have the actual homework papers and any other important papers to take home or to return to school. Thank you in advance for your help and cooperation.
- Homework this week: Reading, spelling, and math homework due on Friday. The reading homework is about Veterans Day - thank you to all veterans for your service to our country!
- Book orders for this month are due by November 28, 2016, online only please. New book order flyers will be going home every Monday for your child to browse. The class code is NDJXN.
- Grandparents Day is Tuesday, November 15! It will begin at 8:45 am. Your child will be able to show their grandparent their classroom, desk, and locker. We will also make cards! Then we will watch the third grade music performance at 9:30. Grandparents Day will end at 10:00 am.
- The third grade music concert will take place on Tuesday at 7 pm at the high school. I will be attending and look forward to watching my third graders!
- Looking ahead: There is no school for elementary students on Tuesday, November 22nd. This is because the final round of parent conferences will be taking place. If you have not had your conference with me yet, please let me know and we can schedule something for that day. Thank you! Thanksgiving break is from Nov. 22-Nov. 27.
Thanks,
Mrs. Reiber

What we are learning in Room 12...
This is the area of the weekly newsletter where parents/guardians can be informed of what is planned for our week. If your child is ever going to be absent, please let me know in advance if possible, so I can send make-up work with them.
- Math - We started our next math unit about measurement and time. We are learning about grams, kilograms, liters, and milliliters. We have had some really fun hands-on lessons using scales, beans, popcorn kernels, and rice!
- Reading - We will learn about Veterans Day. We will also continue to learn about "The Dip" and what we should do if we get stuck while learning. (I have sent the links to these weekly videos in Class Dojo for you.)
- Writing/Spelling - This week's spelling words are about contractions. The spelling test is on Friday. For writing class, we are continuing our narrative writing unit.
- Social Studies - We have begun our next unit, which is about government. Students have campaigned for "president" of the class to learn about the executive branch. Check Class Dojo for the great photos! Next, we will learn about the legislative branch by holding a "mock" city council meeting. We also have a field trip about Tallmadge government and history on Thursday, December 1.
