We made it through the first week in 2021. Before class starts Monday, PARENTS please note:

- Materials: Please make sure your child has their textbooks and materials ready for instruction. If you do not have these materials, please contact your home school.

Math Learning Focus: 3.NSF.2 Explain fraction equivalence (i.e., denominators 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10) by demonstrating an understanding that:
a. Two fractions are equal if they are the same size, based on the same whole, or at the same point on a number line;
b. Fraction equivalence can be represented using set, area, and linear models;
c. Whole numbers can be written as fractions (e.g., 4= 4/1 and 1= 4/4);
d. Fractions with the same numerator or same denominator can be compared by reasoning about their size based on the same whole.
Success Criteria:
- I can use models to show equivalent fractions.
- I can explain why fractions are equivalent.
- I can represent equivalence of fractions using area, set, and linear models.
- I can write a fraction as a whole number and a whole number as a fraction.
- I can compare fractions using same denominators or same numerators.
Reading Learning Focus: Readers utilize key details that support the central idea to summarize multi-paragraph texts and use paragraph-level context to determine the meaning of words and phrases.
Success Criteria:

Writing Learning Focus: Explore topics of interest to generate writing ideas.

- I can practice taking time to research and become an expert about my topics.
- I can read a variety of sources on the same topic or concept to get ideas for my writing.
- I can jot down important details from the sources on my chosen topic to help me as I collect more information.
