Mrs. Bolin's Class
5th Grade
Drum's Alive
Week of May 11-15
Reading: We will be reading "You Wouldn't Want to Be" stories.
I am asking students to read a book a month (3) over the summer. The Homer Public Library has a fun, engaging summer reading program. It would be terrific if every child would participate so they don't lose the progress they made over the year, and it would help establish the habit of reading each day .
The kids did a great job getting their cereal boxes in, we still have some to present, but they did a good job of getting them in.
Social Studies: We will be studying slavery, the beginnings of our country, and the struggles of the people that migrated and lived here. Then we will studying the beginnings of our country. The great United States of America.
Math: We will be completing our testing this week with Ed Performance and CBA's. We will also be working on hands on building activities each day.
The kids had a great walking field trip to Bishop's Beach. I think they were pretty wore out and had some sore feet. They were very well behaved and enjoyed the ice cream at the end!!
We have a field trip Karen Hornaday Park Friday afternoon to celebrate the end of the year. I need permission slips by Thurs.
T shirts and sweatshirts with our new design are available Tuesdays before school for $15-$30/$35.
Please help your students return their library books –I will send home overdue notices this week.
