Stonegate Spotlight: Third Grade
3rd grade has had an exciting month! We traveled to the Indianapolis Zoo to learn about the various animals and explore the different biomes. Students were able to experience the dolphin show and see the animals up close. This experience signifies the start of our specialty animal project. In the coming weeks we will be starting our non fiction writing unit as well as picking our specialty animals. This project will extend through quarters 2 and 3. In that time, we will be learning how to research, collect and organize facts, and write informational reports.
Jog-a-Thon Update
Thank you to everyone who has donated to our Jog-A-Thon fundraiser! So far, we have raised more than $15,000 and have reached 80% of our goal to raise $20,000 for Stonegate Elementary! Hooray! This money will fund math and literacy materials, technology, enrichment grants, field trips, and special projects for each grade. AMAZING! Thank you for your generosity! We have extended the deadline to donate to next Friday, October 11th. Please get your donations in before Fall Break! To donate online go to: https://www.schoolpay.com/link/JAT2019 Every student who brings in $50 in donations ($25 for preschoolers) will be awarded a running shoe keychain they can decorate!! Prizes will be awarded every week with the last round of keychains being awarded right after Fall Break. Plus, the class in each grade with the highest participation percentage gets to choose their own Spirit Day. We will have a preschool winner and a winner for each grade. And the one class in the whole school who raises the most money gets to “cream” their teacher, Mrs. Largent, and Mrs. Farley! The leading classes so far are PreK/Preschool, Mrs. Barth, and Mrs. Westin. But the numbers are very close, so any class could win! If you have any questions, please email mailto:SGEJAT@gmail.com

E-Day Childcare
Dear parents/guardians:
We are looking forward to our upcoming elementary conferences and spending time with you to focus on your child’s goals and educational journey here in ZCS. While conferences are taking place on November 14th, students are offsite spending the day doing their coursework at home, a friend or relative’s house, or a variety of other locations parents have chosen. Some students will also be participating in conferences with their parents as communicated by the classroom teachers. For parents who may be experiencing some difficulty in making arrangements for their child to participate in E-Day away from school as designed during the conferences, each school will have some availability for child care. In order to take advantage of the opportunity, you must register by Monday, November 11th.
Hours of operation:
8:00 am – 2:30 pm on Thursday, November 14th
*Transportation is to be provided by the family. Drop-off/pick-up logistics will be communicated by GROW to participating families in the days leading up to Elementary E-day.
*Students will need to bring a sack lunch.
*Please note that since E-Day homework is not due for one week, access to the computer lab/machines at each school site will be limited. Please contact your child’s teacher for additional access time if your family has needs for a device or does not have access to WiFi at home.

Did You Know?
ZCS, like other public schools, has a no-idling policy for vehicles on campus. The purpose of the policy is to limit vehicle emissions that might be brought into the schools and adversely impact the health of our students and staff. If you are stopped on campus for more than 5 minutes, please remember to turn off your engine. We thank you for abiding by this policy to help reduce the exposure to these emissions.
