A Brief Note from Dr. Cassidy
We continue to use #RiseUpLMS to remind our students that we should forever be striving to rise up and be the very best version of ourselves. Students did not disappoint last year, and we know that, as we welcome a new group of 6th graders into our LMS family, they will bring even more to the table and together we will go beyond our expectations again.
I personally want each and every child to love our school and be eager to arrive each morning. Each of student is an important part of our family, and we are not the same when they are not with us.
If I can ever be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to call me at 864-397-3400 or to email me at lisacassidy@pickens.k12.sc.us.
SDPC Video Features LMS on Day One
Liberty Middle School Houses
Lockers & Cell Phones
Our very own Rise Up Rock Star came by to help Mrs. Ellison remind students how to open their lockers. If you haven't watched the video, be sure to do so. It will leave you smiling. https://www.facebook.com/LibertyMiddleFalcons/videos/2156482821236559/
Additionally, students are now required to lock their cell phones in their lockers each day. Cell phones must be turned off as soon as students enter the building each morning. Cellphones remain in their lockers and should not be removed until the end of the school day. Students may turn their phones on only when they are seated in the bus holding area at the end of the day or are seated in the car loop at the end of the day. Students that are on their phones at any time before this point are considered to be in violation of the phone policy.

Ingles Tools for Schools
Over the past 16 years, Ingles Markets has contributed over 14 million dollars to schools using the Tools for Schools program.
The money earned in the program has been used to purchase valuable learning tools and equipment.
Ingles Markets and our Tools for Schools program are committed to helping schools and students enhance their maximum education.
LMS faculty and parents/grandparents are encouraged to participate in this program. Just click the link and search for our school by city, state, name or id code(31418). After LMS is found in the list you just need to add your 12 digit Ingles card number. Each time you shop, Ingles gives LMS a percentage to use for learning tools and equipment.
Google Basics & Digital Literacy
Students in 7th grade Digital Literacy and 8th grade Google Basics need to make sure they are checking their class webpage if they are ever absent. All of the notes from class are copied to the site, and it is the student’s responsibility to get any notes they may have missed. A link to the website is available on their Course Code page in Schoology.
Robotics
The Robotics Team meets EVERY Wednesday at LMS until 5 pm. Mark your calendar for the first two events - November 3 & 10. Details will be sent home as dates get closer. Parents and team members, sign up for the Remind notifications. Papers were sent home with students.

10 Slang Terms Teens Use That Adults Should Know
If you have spent any amount of time with your middle schooler, you must have realized that they love texting and social media. While social media has many great benefits, our students are often better versed in its use than we are as adults. They use terms that we just don't recognize or understand. I recently came across this article by Tim Elmore and wanted to share it with you. Please take a moment to learn these slang terms and check your child's devices frequently. If you have concerns about what you are finding, we will be glad to help you or point you in the right direction if you are unsure of next steps. We want the very best for all of our students, and we recognize that it takes all of us working together to make this happen.
