CELEBRATE NEURODIVERSITY WITH AUTISM ACCEPTANCE MONTH
The human brain is vast & incredible and we need more understanding, appreciation, & representation of neurodiversity. Autism affects 1 in 68 children. Boys are nearly 5 times more likely than girls to be diagnosed with ASD. While knowing the facts is definitely a key part of awareness, let's be sure to also celebrate the great human beings that live with Autism and make our lives richer. Check out these books picks from Colours of Us to help celebrate neurodiversity: https://coloursofus.com/9-multicultural-childrens-books.../ or these https://diversebooks.org/15-books-to-read-for-autism-acceptance-month/

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD: SUPPORT SB830
We invite you to join the LAUSD advocacy efforts by supporting Senator Portantino’s enrollment-based funding bill SB830. Currently, CA is 1 of 6 states funding schools based on average daily attendance (a flawed metric even pre-COVID). Your direct outreach/engagement can help make a difference by letting key decision makers know you want to ensure schools receive funding based on enrollment numbers. Here are some easy ways you can get involved to SUPPORT SB 830 and make a difference in students’ lives.
- SIGN THE PETITION at www.mobilize.us/lausd/event/449074/
- SEND A TWEET & SOCIAL MEDIA POST
- Use End Outdated Funding Tweet on Enrollment-Based School Funding
- Use Education Equity Tweet on Enrollment-Based School Funding
- Act NOW Tweet for Enrollment Based School Funding
- SEND LETTERS to elected officials through Resistbot by texting GO SCHOOL to 50409.
