Testing Reminders...
Dear Parents,
Please see below for important information regarding next week, the week of May 13th. Thank you and please let us know if you have any questions.
STAAR days please remember:
· Monday, May 13th and Tuesday, May 14th are STAAR Testing Days (Monday: Math, Tuesday: Reading). We will have a closed campus for visitors. Carlisle will also have a closed campus on Wednesday, May 15th for STAAR Science. This includes lunches. You are welcome to drop off lunches in the front office, but lunches are closed to visitors. Thank you for your support on these days.
· Students will be provided with a snack, but can bring their own snack/water bottle if they want. Please be sure their snack is not messy (no yogurt, messy chips, etc please).
· Please be sure your child has a chapter book each day so they can read when they are done testing.
· It’s highly recommended - NO smart watches/fitbits Tuesday or Wednesday please. These watches must be put away or turned off these during testing time. If your child needs to bring a cell phone, they must power it off and store it in their backpack/bag/locker for the day.
Thank you,

Parent Notification
Plano ISD to Begin Collections for Unpaid Meal Charges
April 2019
This month, families with unpaid meal charges will begin receiving notifications from Plano ISD regarding the amount owed and how to pay their balances. We want you to be aware of this impending communication and the related guidelines and payment options.
The goal of Plano ISD’s school breakfast and lunch program is to provide healthy meals to children during the school day. In order to serve healthy, high-quality meals to all children, we must make sure we are financially secure, and parents play a key role in this effort.
Procedures for Students with Unpaid Meal Charges:
If you are unsure if your family has a meal account balance, you can view your balance via the Plano ISD Mobile App (downloadable at www.pisd.edu/mobileapp), or you can access and pay the balance online using Paypams, https://paypams.com.
A student is allowed up to two reimbursable breakfast meal charges (where served) and two reimbursable lunch meal charges. Once a student incurs these charges, communication to the parents/guardian is initiated. This month’s direct notification will include comprehensive guidelines and instructions, and will be sent in addition to the regularly scheduled notifications.
· Parents/guardians may make payments in students’ accounts through the online payment system or in person at the campus site.
· For online payments, visit https://paypams.com. You will need to know your login information.
· To access the Free and Reduced Price Meal Application visit https://fans.pisd.edu/fma. Qualifying for the Free and Reduced Meal Program will apply only to charges incurred after successful enrollment, and cannot be applied retroactively to existing balances.
For questions or inquiries about payment plans, contact the food and nutritional services manager at your child’s school. You may access those phone numbers as follows:
· Elementary Schools: https://www.pisd.edu/Page/4521
· Middle Schools: https://www.pisd.edu/Page/4548

Notes from the Nurse
End of Year Medication Pick-up
If your student(s) has/have any type of medication in the clinic, please be aware that all medications must be picked up by a parent/guardian by 12:00pm on Friday, May 24, 2019. No medication will be sent home with students. Any medications which remain in the clinic after this time, must be destroyed per PISD policy. Please call me if you have any questions regarding this policy.
If your student is attending a PISD summer school program, a parent/guardian needs to pick up the medication and drop it off to the nurse at the summer school program. No medication will be sent from one school to the next.
It has been a pleasure to provide healthcare to your child this school year. I hope you and your family have a fun and healthy summer. Medication forms and Action Plans for next year can be found at: https://www.pisd.edu/Page/1697. It is best to take care of the asthma, allergy, seizure, and diabetes action plans with your physician during the summer. School starts Monday, August 12, 2019! I look forward to seeing you and your children next year. For my 5th graders, best of luck in all of your future endeavors!
Sincerely,
Estrella (Nurse Star) Odierno

National Bike School Day!
On Wednesday, May 8, 2019 it is National Bike to School Day. Challenge yourself and your child(ren) to ride bikes or walk to school that day.
Some reasons to participate:
· Encourages healthier habits by encouraging your child(ren) to incorporate regular physical activity into their daily routine
· Helps reduce the amount of air pollutants
· Promotes safety by giving you a chance to talk with your child(ren) about how to be a safe and responsible walker/bike rider
· Less traffic congestions (no carpool line!)
· Increases the sense of community when students see multiple families participating
You can learn more about the event at:

Don't forget to Update Your Child's Information in Parent Portal
- Log onto PISD's parent portal at: http://parent.mypisd.net
- If you have never accessed the parent portal, you will need to set up a new account.
- Click on "New Registration" and set up and account using your student's ID number (this is the same number your child uses in the cafeteria) and your email address. (If you do not have an email address the easiest way to set one up is through a free service like Yahoo or gmail).
- Once you have registered and logged into parent portal, you will see tabs for each of your children.
- Click on each child's name and follow the directions for completing all of the registration information for the 2018-19 school year below.
You will need to complete the following information for each child you have enrolled in school:
