BIJOU'S WEEKLY UPDATE
January 30th-February 3rd
2023-2024 TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN (TK) AND KINDERGARTEN TWO WAY BILINGUAL IMMERSION LOTTERY (TWBI)
It is that time of year again! We are beginning to plan ahead for the next school year and what it holds for our TK and kindergarten programs. If you have a student starting TK or kindergarten in the 2023-2024 school year and are interested in participating in our Two Way Bilingual Immersion program, stop by the office and fill out a commitment form. If your child is already enrolled in the TWBI program and has siblings who will be entering in the fall as TK students or kindergarteners, we need you to fill out and turn in a commitment form as well. Forms are available online at bijou.ltusd.org or at Bijou’s front office. Siblings do get priority in getting into the TK and kindergarten classes, but ONLY IF we get a commitment form turned in from the family.
We are also hoping you can talk to your friends and family who will have 2023 TK or kindergarteners this coming fall about our Bijou TWBI program. We would appreciate you encouraging them to visit our school and complete the commitment form if they are interested in participating in the enrollment lottery in March 2023. Feel free to send anyone interested our way!

LTUSD Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) Surveys
Your voice matters! LTUSD is currently reviewing and updating the 2021-2024 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) for the 2023-2024 school year. Developed through input from the school community, the LCAP is a 3-year plan defining goals and prioritizing spending to improve student outcomes. Your feedback is essential in identifying actions and services in the LCAP that will best serve all students.
Please take this short LCAP survey and help our students along their path to success.
WINTER WEATHER CLOTHING
ALL students go outside for recess!! If the temperature is below 10°, we generally stay inside for recess. However, 10° and above, even with snowy conditions, we go outside!
PLEASE take this opportunity to get proper cold weather gear for your child, so she/he is prepared for school. This includes:
Snow boots, Snow pants, Winter coat (sweatshirt, sweater, cotton clothing of any kind is just not appropriate for a top layer)
Gloves (waterproof preferred), Hat
It is also helpful to have kids keep an extra pair of socks in their backpacks.
Help your kids stay healthy, dry, and warm!
Please remember to label ALL the clothing your child might take off
during the day.
LOST AND FOUND
Every Monday, we will be taking the lost and found items and placing them at the front of the school. Please stop by and check for your student’s belongings. We have many jackets, sweaters, water bottles and lunch boxes. Anything not claimed will be donated at the end of the month.
VOLUNTEERS
We are excited to invite volunteers back into our classrooms this year. This assumes that our school COVID numbers remain at an acceptable level. All volunteers must complete the following volunteer registration tasks prior to starting:
Volunteer Registration Form
Code of Conduct/Confidentiality Form
Sex Offender Check Authorization Form (to be checked via Megan’s Law)
Copy of Current ID
TB Questionnaire (Can be completed with an appointment with our school nurse)
Fingerprints (Level 2 Volunteers who would like to attend Field Trips)
This packet is available at the school or you can access the packet here. Volunteer Packet
Please note that this entire packet must be completed and cleared prior to any volunteering (turn in to your school secretary at least a week before your first volunteer day).
You must arrange a designated time for volunteering with your child’s teacher.
