Congratulations to our soccer team for their first game of the season!
by Phil Leggiere
The Saint Michael High School Saints soccer team had their opening match of the season Thursday, September 12 at SIT field, against The Berkshire Art and Technology Charter School from North Adams, Massachusetts. In a hard-fought contest the Saints came up slightly short, losing 5-3, with Ezra Christie leading the Saints offense with two goals and Stephen Borst also scoring a goal. Midfielder Jack Leggiere and Casey Christie, in his debut as goalie, led the Saints’ defensive effort.
The match was Saint Michael’s first as a member of River Valley Athletic League, based in Greenfield, MA.
The Saints next match will be against the Putney School at 4:00 on Sept 19 at SIT field.
A special thank you to Phil Leggiere for offering to write game coverage for the season!
We would also like to thank Jason Neumeister for going to SIT to weed-whack around the soccer nets this week, and to Jason Borst for painting the lines on the field.
It takes a village... Thank you all for your contributions!
