Friday Reminders
Thank you to Kadie and Kelly F. for our fantastic Read Across America Week.
There were many books read and a lot of school spirit displayed throughout the week. We finished on a high note with many participants coming to read to our students.
ELAC Meeting Reminder to Families
Please send the following reminder home to your EL families by Monday, 3/9.
Brynya sent this information in an email that you can cut and paste and send to the parents of your EL Students regarding our meeting next Tuesday night. If you can, please send an individual email to each family, as it helps increase the likelihood that they will go.
Dear _____________,
I wanted to invite you to join the ELAC Meeting next Tuesday night, March 10th. The meeting will be from 6:00 - 7:00 pm in the Library. You will be able to learn about a number of Computer Programs that you can use at home to help your child grow in their English language proficiency; as well as sites that give them the opportunity to practice skills taught in class. In addition, please come with any questions you may have.
You may bring your child if you would like, as we will have Chromebooks and learning sites set up for them to use during the time.
Hope to see you there!
Report Cards
Please finish working and your report cards and when finished, please send me an email. Make sure your 1st trimester RC envelope are returned to the office in alpha student order with a sticky note on top for any student in need of a new envelope. Any extra handouts for insertion should be in the office by the end of the day Monday. I'll run your report cards once they are ready so long as they are finished by Tuesday. Please make sure assessment data gets entered into Illuminate in the coming week as report cards are finished. Thank You!
New Cleaning Procedures for COVID-19
Jarvis is picking up an extra hour daily to do the spray cleaning in the classrooms and work areas. To prepare, please make sure student desk surfaces, counter spaces and works spaces are cleared and have chairs on the floor and pulled from under the desks so that they can be sprayed. The spray is an extra-strength isopropyl alcohol mix that will dry within 5 minutes. You may notice a slight smell, but it will dissipate quickly.
Doors, light switches will also be sprayed. Thank you for your extra efforts!
COVID-19 Reports of Student/Staff/Family Connections
If students or staff come in contact with someone confirmed to be an infected person they should stay home, contact their medical provider, and call Alameda County Public Health Department at (510) 267-8000. If someone must quarantine or isolate, they will be notified by Alameda County Public Health Department. If a student reports this information to you, please notify Lisa who will contact the superintendent for next steps.
PM Recess Change/Trial!
I met with Nancy and we discussed some possible options to assist with the congested blacktop space during the afternoon recess times. For the time being, Nancy would like to try and use designated areas for PE vs. recess. She will inform staff with a note on the staffroom whiteboard and an email of changes that will impact recess in the afternoon. For the time being, the PM PE group will use the blacktop and the afternoon recess will have access to the play structures and the grass area. While this may not be an ultimate fix, we are going to try this first.
Playground rules also should be reviewed by the PBIS team and any additional staff that want to participate. Here is a link to the current rules as listed in the school handbook. At a minimum, we all need to be consistent in holding students accountable. School/playground rules can be found on pages 18-19.
March is Women's History Month & March is Women's History Month
We will do another round of sharing at our Tuesday staff meeting about resources and activities you have planned with your classes for Black History Month and to begin thinking about March-Women's History Month.

Corona Virus Information from CVUSD and Alameda County Health
Please take some time to review the information in the link below. It will answer some basic next step questions related to how we will address issues around COVID-19 such as school closures, distance learning, student absences, etc.
All school principals have been asked to provide information to the district in regards to field trips and events that includes large gatherings in confined settings such as assemblies, bus rides, airplane rides, rallies, indoor music, other performances, and indoor sporting events.
This information will be helpful as we try to make decisions related to the outbreak of Coronavirus.
At this point, we have not been asked to cancel any events, but we will have to follow the district decisions on these issues. All site leadership will continue to communicate information as it becomes available so that we can best plan together.

Interpreter Services
To request an in-person interpreter, fill out the online Interpreter Request form (below) with the required information to submit your interpreter request.
A minimum of two weeks notice is needed for an "in-person" interpreter. On occasion, an interpreter can be found on shorter notice, but that is generally not the norm and should not be expected. An email will be sent on your behalf to request an interpreter within 24 hours of the first workday after your request has been received. You will be included on that email and will be notified via email when your interpreter request has been filled.
For last-minute interpreting needs, you and the family can use the Language Line. Click the link for the directions.
