How Deborah Alessi’s Face Forward Is Transforming Lives
Gang and domestic violence are a threat not just to the women and children who are affected in the process, but a threat to everyone else. We might sit down and speak about a particular region leading in cases of violence but we never know when we will find ourselves in such a situation. Today there are so many women and children who are suffering the brunt of violence in their homes and also in their neighborhoods. The sad part about this is that the home is supposed to be a place where someone feels safe, feels at home and most importantly it is supposed to be a sanctuary of love and affection. However this is not the case in so many households. Women are battered, children are tortured with some sold off as slaves or married off early to husbands old enough to be their fathers or grandfathers. These are some of the challenges that women and children face on a daily basis.
Having survived an abusive relationship, Deborah Alessi has been able to step out and speak for those women and children who are battered and tortured from time to time. The foundation she started with her current husband, Face Forward gives the victims a new chance at being able to literally put their faces forward and live a better life. The effects of such acts of violence do not just fade away easily. These are effects that last a lifetime. The people who are involved as victims live their lives with torment and fear, wondering whether they will ever get to be as happy as other people are. This kind of emotional torture can be irreparable for some, and this is why professional counseling and medical assistance is necessary for them.
Since its inception Face Forward has been able to partner with several well-wishers and other like-minded parties who wish to ease the burden that barbaric persons bestow upon the innocent. Together the stakeholders in this noble mission give the affected persons the courage to make the important step in their lives to overcome all the torture and torment that they have been through. A nudge in the right direction and an assurance that all will be well is what has kept people like Deborah Alessi alive and given her hope where there was none. Since she made it, she has taken to assisting those ladies who are not as fortunate as she was to start afresh and be whole again.
