Welcome Back!
Hello Raider Nation --
I hope you all had a great break. It is hard to believe that we are in the fourth and last quarter of this school year. Spring has arrived, the weather is getting warmer and we are in the homestretch with just about two months of school remaining. The time will fly by! For our seniors, the end is in sight. As you know, it is much harder to keep the students’ focus on academics when the beautiful weather is beckoning our attention. You, too, may be experiencing SPRING FEVER! However, to whatever extent you can, please remind students that there are still important things that lie ahead. Namely, state testing, AP testing, and final exams. This is the time to prepare for all of the end of year assessments and finish strong!
I know I sent out a message but I think it is worth repeating that Thomas Stuppy was selected as the Teacher of the Year by the Class of 2019. Mr. Stuppy will be honored by the Board of Education at a reception later this month. Additionally, Brandon Morfoot, was named the 2019 Howard County World Language Teacher of the Year! Brandon will now vie for the Maryland World Language Teacher of the Year. We wish him all the best! Congratulations to both Thomas and Brandon – well deserved!
A special kudos to Jessica Grady and her Bully Free Forever Club. Although I was out of town, the feedback from Dr. Martirano and all of the community superintendents was overwhelmingly positive regarding the assembly and the speaker, Ken Nwadike. I even received emails from parents about how impactful it was as their children came home talking about it. Thank you Jessica for all of your hard work in making it happen.
This Wednesday’s Raider Time is reserved for Student Member of the Board elections. Mr. Richman will provide more information on this. Remember there are videos to be shown for the candidates and ballots to be filled out. During this time, there will be a senior meeting in the auditorium. We will discuss all of the particulars regarding the last week of school for seniors – rehearsals, exams, picnic, graduation, etc. We will provide all pertinent information to staff in the next two days as things are finalized. Just a reminder that Raider Time is finished for the year. As mentioned earlier, we are entering the state assessment window which will require us to forego Raider Time.
Thank you to everyone for your assistance with our school-wide values activity. A special thank you to members of the PLC for planning the activity and putting together the video. I am so excited to see the feedback from students.
Have a fantastic week!
See you tomorrow!
Robert
