Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Guardians,
"If you can't fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl, but by all means, keep moving." - Martin Luther King Jr.
This week’s quote is brought to us by our 7th social studies teacher, Mrs. Scapellato. This quote by Martin Luther King is perfect for this long week and the return of cold winter days. The fast-paced nature of a school year can be draining on students, staff, and our families so it is essential we have these long weekends to get some needed rest and recharge. The cold winter days have proven to be difficult to maintain the happiness advantage which makes his quote all the more relevant to just “keep moving forward.”
This quote reminds us that not every day, especially in middle school, will be perfect. Our students face challenges on a daily basis. Whether academic or social, it is important that they continue moving forward. Moving forward doesn’t mean ignoring the challenging interactions or problems but rather working to resolve them. The quote is a lesson for getting through those challenging problems that it isn’t important how you get through it, but that you continue to work to get through it by any means necessary. It is one of the aspects of O’Neill that we are most proud of. Our continued collaboration to problem solve has been a point of pride these past few years. We continue to work together to keep “moving forward.”
There is no school on Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Have a great weekend!
