The Secret Life of Bees
By: Sue Monk Kidd
Great book made back in 1964, setting in South Carolina. Lily Owens had been confused on the day her mother passed away ever since she was little, until her father "T-Ray" had told her. She didn't expect what T-Ray said about the truth, she didn't believe him. T-Ray didn't treat Lily in the best way, her maid/house keeper, who took care of Lily and things around, "Rosaleen", got in a argument with very racists people. Her and Lily escaped where they lived, without T-Ray knowing, and things get turned around when they meet people and try to find out the true story of how her mom passed away.
"Fully imagined...The core of this story is Lily's search for a mother, and she finds one in a place she never expected" -The New York Times Book Review
"A moving first novel...Lily is an authentic and winner character and her story is compellingly told." -USA Today
"A truly original Southern voice." - Anita Shreve
