Gallatin High Update

Week of February 8-12, 2021

Enrollment Options for the Fall 2021

As you may have read through district communications, the district is exploring online school options for PK-12 for next school year. At Monday evening’s board meeting, beginning at 5:45 pm, administration will present some brief information for K-8 and 9-12 grade level bands during the Board Education portion of the agenda. February 10th at 7:00 pm there will be an informational Zoom meeting. Families will have until Friday, February 19th to enroll in the online high school option for the fall of 2021. It is important that we gather this information now in order to most accurately plan our staffing and master schedule for both in person and online students in the fall. Please check your email for more detailed information and to access the Zoom link for the information meeting.

February is CTE Month in Montana

February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) month. At Gallatin High School, our students have the opportunity to take classes in Biomedical Sciences, Business, Engineering, Family and Consumer Science, and Industrial Technology. CTE gives purpose to learning by emphasizing real-world skills and practical knowledge within a selected career focus in high skill, high wage, and in-demand careers with opportunities for advancement. CTE provides students an opportunity to sample many different professions (through hands-on experiences) which helps them reflect on both their interests and capabilities. Many CTE programs at GHS offer dual credit as well, helping students and their families achieve their post-secondary goals economically.

Every one of our CTE departments has a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that raises students’ academic motivation and engagement, grades, career self-efficacy, college aspirations and employability skills. Each CTSO is engaged in activities and competitions locally (and some nationally) that not only develop skills unique to each field, but prove to be fun and to build team work, critical thinking, communication, and problem solving skills. Example CTSO are HOSA, DECA, FCCLA, and Skills USA.

Other benefits of CTE in Montana:

  • Over 97% of high school CTE students who take earn at least two credits in a career pathway, graduate on time
  • 86% of high school CTE students go on to college or get a job within six months
  • 92% of CTE students earn an industry recognized credential

Full Bus Service Has Resumed

Bozeman school buses are again running at full capacity and available to all registered students--not just those who live outside the three mile radius. Buses are sanitized daily, and students are required to wear masks while riding. Bus stop information is available in PowerSchool portal: under Navigation, select Forms and then scroll down to Bus Information. Unfortunately, bus information is only available on the portal - it cannot be accessed through the PowerSchool mobile app. Bus registration forms are available online for families who haven't previously registered. Please contact Douglas Kellie ( or 522-6041) or First Student (556-8039) if you have questions or need additional information. Please help minimize traffic congestion around our schools!

Student Drop Off and Pick Up

Please refrain from stopping along the northwest drive between the bus lane and Cottonwood Road. Thank you for your cooperation.
