New AISD Library Catalog
Your source for information on ongoing updates
Newest Update: August 3rd
If you have not yet read the information below, please do so!
Everything is up and running as it should with a couple minor exceptions (Paredes and Mendez). I highly advise you begin testing it out and using it. The images that are being used on your individual pages are the logos that the district has created for your campuses. They are they ones we are using because of their uniformity. You may also notice that I have changed the banner to match the district's chosen font and logo.
Couple of things:
1. You will notice that each page has a link to your library's webpage. I got these from either the campus library page at library.austinisd.org or the form that about 30 of you filled out. If you you do not want it there, want a different link, etc, please enter that data here: CLICK THIS LINK
DO NOT EMAIL IT TO ME. I say this because it will get lost, and I won't see it, and then your changes won't get made, and none of us will be happy ;)
2. The link directly to symbaloo page is intended to bypass those strange moments when our firewall blocks the embedded symbaloo. I am still working with that company to get the shared pages to display everything.
I imagine there will be more updates on this page in the next couple of weeks, and there is a session at the August 15th PD day on the catalog, so there will be the opportunity to ask questions then.
June 15th update
Hey folks!!
Lots of crazy fun things going on with the new catalog this summer! I wanted to keep you all updated on what's happening so fall will not come as a complete surprise. Without further ado:
Secondly: There have been some design changes. I hope you like them :) There will likely be a few more before the summer is over. Generally speaking, I am working on this everyday, so if you are in your library with patrons using your new catalog page, please email and let me know so i do not use your page to tinker with (sorry Akins, the bane of being first in the alphabet :D )
Third: We will be running an upgrade for Sirsi and Enterprise on July 1st. You should make plans not to need either as EVERYTHING will be unavailable. Barring catastrophe, we should be back up and running July 2nd. Debra will have additional instructions about WorkFlows so stay tuned. I am going to try and get any style issues or CSS flubs from the upgrade worked out before the district reopens on the 11th, but if you know you have patrons that will need the new catalog page before then, let me know, so I can address your page first.
Fourth: With the help of the good folks of SirsiDynix, I believe I have the URL's worked out. What that means for you:
If I want to go directly to Akins' catalog page, I simply type in:
catalog.austinisd.org/akins
If I want to go directly to Graham's catalog page, I simply type in:
catalog.austinisd.org/graham
and so on and so forth.....
With this established, I will be moving forward in getting the ibistro accounts changed to catalog.austinisd.org accounts. (Yes, it's really happening.)
FOR SUMMER ONLY: Please send catalog feedback to me via email (At least until the new feedback button is available.)
Already an update!!! (still June 15th)
1. The databases: I will be recreating the database icons so they are recognizable and not so tiny, but it's going to take awhile. I'll start with the worst ones....
2. I'm still looking for search buttons color and shape in the css so i can change it. It's a little thing but it bugs me.
3. I will be adding a search all schools button to each individual campus' site, so your students can default to your site, but click a "search all schools" to get back to the main page.
4. Some of the campuses did not get fancy new logos. I'm trying to figure out why and if there is plan for this.
5. Mobile responsiveness is not available. It's coming, I have seen it, but it would take me too long to build it out when SirsiDynix will be delivering it March-ish or 2017.
