Stephen William Hawking
By Grant Honeyman P.4 Science
Stephen was born on January 8th, 1942. His father was Frank Hawking and his mother was Isobel Hawking. Stephen decided he wanted to become a scientist when he was about 8 or 9(it never said why). When Stephen was little he would take things apart and put them back together to see how they worked this speculated him so much. Stephen went to St. Albans high school and Oxford University. There he received cosmology and physics classes.
When he 21 he was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease (it shuts down the nervous system). It left him almost completely paralyzed. Now he has to use an artificial voice box and a motorized wheel chair. His main discovery was when he discovered black holes out in the deep universe.Lou Gehrig’s disease didn’t stop Hawking he also wrote a book called A Brief History of Time which was a best seller for four years!! Although he uses a wheel chair and someone else’s voice he is still a genius. He also helped other scientists explain the Big Bang, wrote more books, and became a professor at Cambridge University.
Stephen William Hawking is the most known scientist ever and now you know why he helped explain The Big Bang, discovered black holes, and believes the Universe is still expanding. He is an actor, is paralyzed, and is a genius. You should know about him because he explained the universe and YOU live in it.
