Exploring in the woods

Winter Walk

On Thursday, the Reception children visited Hackfall Woods for a Winter walk. They are visiting the woods each term so they can investigate the changes which take place in nature throughout each season. The weather was fine and dry but they still came back with some very muddy boots! Thank you to everyone who helped with this visit.

Year 1 Welcome Worship

This week it was the turn of Year 1 to hold Welcome Worship on the theme of relationships. They looked at the relationships they have with family, friends and God. They read a poem that explains how we feel when relationships go wrong.

Grazes heal, scars outside disappear,
Soreness and bruises fade away.
In hours, days or even weeks
New skin grows so that
No one knows where the hurt has been.

Hurt feelings, scars inside unseen,
The hurt remains and even grows
For hours, days, weeks and maybe years.
It hides in us, locked in a secret place
To which we only have the key.

They also learnt a song about looking after yourself called "123 it's good to be me".

As always the children were fantastic and it was lovely to welcome all the parents and carers to share this with us.

Teeth inspections!

The budding dentists in Year 4 spent the afternoon on Thursday inspecting and counting their teeth. They made some quite detailed models....as you can see, there are some fine sets of teeth around!

Buddy Bench

Below is a sneak preview of the Buddy Bench which Henshaws have kindly made for us. We are going to run a competition to design the colour scheme for it and then the art workers at Henshaws will paint it for us. Thank you to everyone who donated towards this project. We can't wait to see the finished result.

Another great reading area

Year 5 have been challenging themselves with a focus on The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. They have created their own Hobbit hole in the classroom. This is part of the school's focus on encouraging a love of reading and pursuing excellence in their reading skills.
