The LEAD Letter
A Bi-weekly LEAD Center Publication: Volume 1, Issue 2
Welcome back, Golden Bears!
All of us here at the LEAD Center hope that you had a fantastic break filled with lots of friends and family, food, adventures, and no homework. We're so excited to start off strong this semester, so we'll be bringing you the most updated, relevant information for all registered student groups on campus.
Like we said last month, we’ll be featuring all kinds of orgs, existing and new, while highlighting the events and activities that students can get involved in on campus. If you'd like us to include your org in the next issue, click here!
We encourage you all to share these events with other members of you organizations so that we as a community can collectively support the diverse congregation of groups that thrive at Cal.
Lead on & stay golden,
The LEAD Center

STUDENT GROUP SPOTLIGHT
UC Berkeley Model United Nations
The UC Berkeley Model United Nations (UCBMUN) club simulates debate and educates participants in topics centered around international relations, diplomacy, and public speaking.
“UCBMUN is a community of those passionate about international relations, diplomacy, debate, and travel,” said Vice President Grayson Dimick. “The club is an incredibly diverse experience, with 33 nationalities, 24 languages, and 38 majors (ranging from Political Science to Nuclear Engineering) represented. On a weekly basis, club members have the opportunity to learn about International Relations, practice public speaking, network, and be part of a close-knit, highly social community.”
Members compete on the national circuit, attending eight conferences annually and traveling to universities as close as UCLA and as far as Harvard University.
“Ranked 10th nationally, our travel team is highly competitive, winning Outstanding Delegation awards at TrojanMUN and CMUNNY, in addition to bringing home a slew of individual awards,” Dimick recounted.
In the spring, the entire club hosts UCBMUNC in San Francisco, the largest collegiate conference on the west coast, attended by over 600 college students from across the US and the world.
The intercollegiate MUN conference will be held on Feb. 26 - Mar. 1 at the Hilton Hotel, and registration closes on Feb. 15.
Applications to join UCBMUN are out and can be found here, due by Jan. 31. Follow up panel interviews will be conducted between Feb. 6 - 8.
