Message from Mr. Tejkl
Kindness doesn't cost a thing...
Good morning!
We can not tell you how great it was to have everyone in the building once again! The amount of smiling faces, the greetings, the "hey, did you see my new shoes", to the happiness of our students and staffs faces! It was something that was amazing and truly makes you sit back and say, "dang, we have a great thing here, let's keep pushing ourselves to be even better." I thank everyone for the great start but starting is always the easiest part, being consistent and showing up every day is the challenge. Embrace it and lets have an amazing full week of school!
As we hit the ground running, I wanted to touch on a simple message yet one that can make a world of a difference for others. Kindness is something that is part of our message here at SRC and we take pride in being kind to others. Whether that is our students, our staff, or our communities member; we all have a part to play. Being kind to others doesn't cost you anything except a little bit of time but when you are genuine with your comments or gestures, it not only makes others feel better, but it makes ourselves feel better too!
According to SSM Health, 11/8/2022, "Physiologically, kindness can positively change your brain. Being kind boosts serotonin and dopamine, which are neurotransmitters in the brain that give you feelings of satisfaction and well-being and cause the pleasure/reward centers in your brain to light up. Endorphins, which are your body’s natural pain killer, also can be released." We can physically and mentally make ourselves and others feel better. Not to mention, it is just great to see others smile after a good deed.
I challenge you this week to talk to everyone you see, in a meaningful way, and make a world's difference because even though you may barley think anything of what you are doing, that other person may have their life changed because of your interaction.
Have a great rest of your Sunday and I will see you all tomorrow!
Quote of the week to reflect on:
"Sometimes when we are generous in small, barely detectable ways it can change someone else's life forever."
Margaret Cho
Sincerely,
Tucker Tejkl
