Tiger Time News
News from the O.C. Taylor Principal, Lisa Young
Young@Heart, Sept. 18, 2016
Dot Day was a creative and joyful success. As John Dewey American Philosopher says, "To be playful and serious at the same time is possible and, it defines the ideal mental condition." We were serious about our fun creativity this week. Ask your child about what they did on Dot Day. Together we are giving all of our O.C. Taylor Tigers wonderful and meaningful learning experiences.

We will send a parent survey in the next couple of weeks to gather input to make the best decision for children, families, parents, and staff for the next school year. We care about each one of you and know we all have different circumstances. We want to come up with a solution that works best, especially for your precious children.
Water Fountain Update
In addition to your support, thank you for your flexibility and understanding these first few weeks regarding the water quality testing taking place on our campus. Today, I wanted to update you on this process.
The second round of testing took place after school started, and, as a result, the filter-equipped kitchen sink met water quality standards. This second round of testing also included all interior campus water fountains. Two fountains were identified as not meeting the water quality standards of the EPA and will be replaced. For added safety, filters have been or will be added to these and all other campus water fountains.
We are working with our environmental consultant to schedule an additional round of testing. Meanwhile, fountains will remain out of service, and we will continue to provide bottled water to students and staff.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
To the greatest of days,
Lisa Young

Technology Tips
Talk to Other Parents
Deciding when to allow your children to use the internet is a personal parenting decision. Take the time to talk with other parents. Find out what they are thinking and allowing their children to do. Having these conversations with other parents can help solidify for you what is the best decision for your family. Sharing personal knowledge and experiences helps us all to make the best determinations.
