GWAEA Digital Learning Update
to ensure success for all learners - December 2015
Think, Make, Innovate: Sphero Maze Challenge
Think, Make, Innovate is Grant Wood AEA Digital Learning Team's makerspace challenge show. This challenge asks students to test their coding skills, by designing a maze out of common objects and coding a Sphero robot to travel through the maze.
We would love to see what you make! Join our Maker Community (http://www.dlgwaea.org/maker-communit...) by sending us photos or videos of your Sphero mazes to makerspace@gwaea.org or share links with us using this form (http://goo.gl/forms/FQiHbDNZXS) and we will post them on our website, www.dlgwaea.org.

Teacher-reported time spent per year participating in non-school-sponsored formal PD
Why This Matters
Long-term professional development that models the type of learning expected of students is needed in order for educators to leverage technology tools that develop 21st century skills (Delaney, 2011).
An example of non-school sponsored PD could be attending an EdCamp! EdCamp Iowa is coming up on February 13, 2016! EdCamp Iowa is for educators, students, parents, board members, policymakers, community members, and anyone that cares about education. Laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other electronic devices are encouraged. Oh, and it's FREE!
Never been to an EdCamp? Watch the video and read the information below! This year the southeast location will be in Cedar Rapids!
