Hello FUSD Staff and Community,
As we head into a well-deserved break, I’m reflecting on how much our students have grown since the first day of school. Students are making academic and social emotional progress with the help of our outstanding team in FUSD and the incredible families and community that support our school community. I thank each of you for your contributions to our students’ success.
Spring Break begins on Friday, April 15, and students return to classrooms on Monday, April 25. This week each FUSD student and employee received an at-home COVID-19 test kit to use before returning to school or work, please see more information below. Use of these kits is optional. They are intended to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our schools. Please continue to follow our health and safety protocols, including staying home when sick, as we return from the break.
I hope the break brings you and your loved ones opportunities to rest, recharge and enjoy each other’s company. When we come back, we’ll only have 30 days of instruction in the school year, and we know they will be busy with learning, activities, and traditions old and new.
I look forward to sharing in those busy days ahead, and seeing how much more we can all grow together.
Thank you all for your continued support for our students, staff and schools.
At-Home Test Kits
FUSD is participating in a state program to provide a free at-home test kit for all interested students and staff for use before returning to sites to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Participation in this program is optional.
Each preK-12 student (ages 2+) and staff member will receive a test kit, these will be distributed this week directly through school sites and employees’ work locations.
Each kit has two tests, which should be taken one and three days before returning to school/work (April 22 and April 24) to best prevent the spread of COVID-19 on our campus.
FUSD will not require proof of a negative test for returning students or staff. However, students or staff with a positive test result, any COVID-19 symptoms, and/or a known exposure to someone with COVID-19 must follow our student flowchart or staff flowchart before returning to campus.
FEF’s 16th Annual Run 4 Education
The Fremont Education Foundation (FEF) is hosting its 16th annual Run 4 Education on Saturday, May 7 at Tak Fudenna Memorial Stadium (at Washington High School).
FUSD elementary schools receive funds based on registrations. Proceeds from individual or corporate sponsors directly benefit FEF's Guy Emanuele Sports Fund, which is dedicated to enabling greater participation in school-sponsored sports programs in schools through grants to FUSD’s athletic departments.
Registration is open now at www.fremontrun4education.com.
Measure E Bond Updates
Please join FUSD on May 4 from 6-7pm for a virtual update to our community on Bond-funded construction projects. Get updates on completed projects, projects currently underway, and future plans.
Each attendance area has work scheduled through the coming years; the biggest projects underway are those to transition Centerville, Thornton and Hopkins junior highs, which currently serve grades 7-8, to middle schools serving grades 6-8.
Our community made these and other projects possible through its generous support of Measure E in 2014 to build and improve FUSD facilities. The investment reflects our community’s commitment to our students, staff and schools.
