2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR APPROVED WITH SHORTENED SPRING BREAK
At their May 30th meeting, the Council Rock Board of School Directors unanimously approved the 2020-2021 School Year Calendar. After surveying the community and receiving over 2,000 responses, Administration recommended a calendar with a shortened Spring Break as a way to better manage end of year dismissal times. It should be noted that the 2019-2020 School Year Calendar still utilizes a full-week Spring Break schedule.

SAVE THE DATE: ROLLING HILLS ELEMENTARY COMMUNITY AND FAMILY NIGHT
Rolling Hills Elementary School family and community members are invited to come and visit RHE one last time on June 18 from 6:30-7:30 PM, before scheduled renovations begin. Attendees will be able to view the school, write a memory on a wall, and say goodbye to RHE as it currently exists.
COUNCIL ROCK FINANCIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE - APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED
COUNCIL ROCK COMMUNITY AQUATICS PROGRAM
The Council Rock Community Aquatics Program is currently accepting registrations for our summer program. Classes include children’s swimming lessons, summer recreational swimming hours, and a competitive swim training program for swimmers 8th grade and up. Registration is held weekdays from 3-7pm Monday to Friday at the pool lobby area (door 3A) at Council Rock North. No registration will occur on Monday, June 17th due to graduation. Weekday registration begins on Monday, June 24 from 10-2pm Monday to Thursday. Please check our website at www.crsd.org/aquatics and click on summer 2019 to view the brochure and registration form. Summer recreational swimming hours begin on Monday, June 24 from 12:45-2:00 Monday to Thursday until Thursday, July 26. Also, one Friday this year (Friday, June 28). Please check our website at www.crsd.org/aquatics for the full list of Rec Swim dates for the summer.

2019 CRSD SUMMER ACADEMIC AND STEM ACADEMY
Council Rock School District will be holding summer school, offering a variety of academic programs for students entering grades K-8. Programs run between July 1st and July 25th. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Robert Francis, Director of Summer Programs (rfrancis@crsd.org).

A world of discovery awaits Kindergarten Enrichment participants as they explore art, dramatic play, science, problem-solving, language and literacy and more!
▪ Kindergarten Enrichment Programs will be offered at the following locations for the
2019-2020 school year, each in a designated classroom. Maximum capacity at each location
is 24 students. Each program will have a certified teacher and an assistant.

ELEMENTARY MOVE-UP DAY / REDISTRICTING TRANSITION
NEWTOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS HONORED FOR HOLOCAUST EDUCATION PROJECTS
Eight eighth-grade students from Newtown Middle School were recognized for their outstanding creative achievements in Holocaust education at an awards ceremony held at Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia on June 11. With the guidance and encouragement of their English teacher, Erinn Demskis, the students submitted their Holocaust projects to the Mordechai Anielewicz Creative Arts Competition, which is sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia. Kate Thomson was awarded first prize for her three-dimensional art entitled, “Remembering the Victims of the Holocaust.” Lily Cinque was awarded second prize in the same category for her piece entitled, “Peace for all who Suffered.” April Xiao and Grace Ye tied for third prize for their two-dimensional artwork titled, “The Fallen Angel” and “Reaching for Resistance” respectively. Sasha Iosava was awarded Honorable Mention for her two-dimensional piece, “Never Forget.” Gianna Marini was awarded the second prize for instrumental music for her original composition for piano entitled, “Through the Night,” which she performed at the ceremony. Maxwell Ondik was awarded second prize for his poetry submission, “The Crying City,” while Abigail Green was awarded Honorable Mention for her poem, “Family.” At the conclusion of the program, teacher Erinn Demskis was recognized for her commitment to Holocaust education. All of the artwork entered in the contest remains on display in a special exhibition at the galleries of Moore College of Art and Design from May 31 through June 13 and will also be posted online at www.jewishphilly.org.
