Estacada HS Graduation Newsletter
May 22, 2020
We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our senior students — the class of 2020! Our graduates deserve to be honored appropriately, with pomp and circumstance. This class of students and their families haven’t been afforded many of the traditional senior year experiences. The loss of these things can not be replicated. We can, however, give our senior class a graduation experience that honors them and serves as an avenue for family, friends, and our community to celebrate them well.
While we are unable to have our traditional senior awards assembly and graduation ceremony, we have put together what I believe to be a premier, day-long celebration. A lot of energy and effort has gone into planning the events of June 6, 2020, and I am thankful for everyone's help. While adhering to the governor's social distancing guidelines, we’re hopeful that this day will offer our families an experience that will be memorable. In order for this 9.5 hour day to happen, we’ll need everyone to do their part. This will include being on time and following the guidelines - many of which we are required to have in place.
Saturday, June 6th will be split into three activities:
The graduation ceremony and fireworks show are for our graduates and their families only. These will not be public events.
Noon - 6:00pm: Graduation Ceremony at Buzz Randall Stadium
7:00pm - 8:00pm: Automotive Parade of Graduates
9:00pm - 9:15pm: Fireworks Show at Estacada High School
Graduation Ceremony - Saturday, June 6th
Students will enter the stadium from the NE corner gate two at a time and make their way toward the stage. As they enter, their family members/friends (no more than 6 per graduate) will enter through the main gate to a designated spot on the field. As each group makes their way in, we ask that they must remain 6 feet apart and wear a face covering of some type.
Each student's name will be announced and they will walk onto the stage and receive their diploma one at a time. Platz Photography will be there taking pictures of each student on the stage. Information on where you can go to download a free copy, (courtesy of Platz Photography) will be made available.
After both students have received their diploma, both parties will exit the stadium through the gate that is located underneath the stadium. There are three stairs leading to that gate. We will have an alternative exit for those who are unable to navigate the steps.
- Student pairs will be scheduled in 6-minute time slots starting at 12:30pm.
- The entire ceremony should take approximately 6 hours to complete.
- The 6 family members must wear face coverings to enter the stadium and must remain 6 feet apart.
- Vulnerable people, such as those with underlying conditions and older adults should stay home.
- The event will be streamed live on the district's Facebook page.
- The ceremony will begin with messages from the principal, followed by the student body vice president, student body president, the class salutatorian, and finally the valedictorian.
Please park in the high school parking lot and make your way over to the sidewalk adjacent to the north end of the stadium. Graduates should head to the NE gate, while friends/family should head to the main gate area. We can only line up 24 guests at a time on the sidewalk and will ask that you keep 6 feet away from one another. We will line up the group that is going into the stadium next followed by the group that is on deck.
We ask that you stay across in the high school parking lot until your turn to get into line. We will have signs showing who should currently be lining up.
In lieu of the traditional senior breakfast, the EHS Boosters Club will be passing out bags of goodies to our graduates immediately upon coming out of the stadium during the graduation ceremony.
As there will be no all-night graduation party, SAFACT will have a tent set up next to the high school parking lot where they will distribute a gift to each student.
Graduation Ceremony Schedule - includes student schedule
- Show up to the sidewalk on the north side of the stadium 12 minutes before your scheduled time.
