Career Center Tips & Timelines 27 September 2021

Greetings Hornets,

17 September 2021, a newsletter was sent from the Career Center with a list of steps to assist students 8 - 12 grade to plan for Beyond High School.

Here is a question I hear a lot from students, "What should I be doing?".

  • Explore careers you are interested in.
  • Find out what education or training it may need.
  • Once you know what level of education or training you need for those careers, research colleges or apprenticeships that will provide the education or training.

Seniors -

  • If you are heading off to college. Keep an eye on deadlines. Remember every college has different deadlines, requirements, and applications. Use the resources below to help with the process.
  • If you are heading straight to a career or military. Find out what is needed.
    • Resumé, certifications, entrance exams, driver's license, etc.
  • Check your emails....I know, I know it is antiquated, some might say even sooo late 1900s. Yet many employers, colleges, apprenticeships, and yes school districts use email. I would even go as far as saying, check that snail mail too, it has not completely disappeared and sometimes mail is sent to that mailbox at home.

Upcoming Fairs -

We are in the process of finalizing what our career and college fairs will look like this year. Keep an eye on emails and social media for event notifications.

As always, I am available to meet with students and families.
