Simmons Elementary School

Mrs. Karen Kanter, Principal (

Dr. Robert Campman, Assistant Principal (

I enjoyed seeing so many families Sunday morning at our annual Simmons 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run. The weather was crisp and sunny. The 5K committee did an amazing job coordinating all the details for our outdoor event. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Last Friday, we hosted our first in-person assembly since the start of the pandemic. Grade 2 welcomed Matt de la Pena, a children's author from California, who talked about his journey from being a reluctant reader to becoming an award-winning author. We appreciate the support of the Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation in funding this special event.

HSA Meeting - Virtual - Tomorrow at 7 p.m.

Please plan to join us for the first Home and School Association meeting of the school year. Mr. Kircher, principal of Keith Valley Middle School, will join us to share an update about the plans for the new KV. As part of the design process, they will be seeking input from elementary students and their families, as many of our current students may be middle school students when the new building is completed. After Mr. Kircher's presentation, our HSA officers will talk about plans for upcoming events.

Halloween 2021

On Friday, October 29, Simmons Elementary School students will be having Halloween activities and parties in their classrooms. Your child’s teacher will send home more specific information about their class activities. Please take a moment to review the information below regarding our holiday plan.

2:15 – 2:30 p.m. Preschool, Kindergarten and Grade 1 Parade on the playground

For the parade, family members are welcome to gather around the perimeter of the blacktop. Classes will exit the school from the overhang door, walk around the playground, then return to the school. Please allow extra time to park in a legal parking spot prior to the parade. If the weather is rainy on October 29th, the outdoor parade will be cancelled. An email notification will be sent to families before noon if we need to cancel the parade.

2:30 p.m. Preschool through Grade 5 classroom parties

This year, we will not utilize adult volunteers in the classrooms for parties to limit the number of people in classrooms due to the pandemic. The Home and School Association will be purchasing snacks and a Halloween game for every classroom.

If your child’s class is dressing up for Halloween, please remember that all costumes need to be appropriate for an elementary school setting. No face paint, hair dye or weapons should be brought to school as part of a costume. Thank you for helping us make this event fun and safe for everyone.
