Healthy Living Class
Students in healthy living got to learn from Mrs. White, Yoga Instructor and Former teacher here at Glen Lake this week! Breathing is an important skill and understanding how to take deep breaths, reset our brains, and relax our bodies are all essential elements of self management skills! Thank you Mrs. White!
Middle school students will have the opportuity to sign up for Yoga Nidra practice every Wednesday in the month of may with Mrs. White during lunch recess! We encourage you to talk with your child and sign up for this awesome experience to learn self regulation and self management skills!

Testing & Assessments
Our students took the Language Arts portion of the M-Step this week. As noted in our M-Step guide we were ready for the test to take no more than 2 hours. However, the ELA portion took up to 6+ hours for students. Please let your child know that we are proud that they tried their best and realize how long the test was. The students showed patience, understanding and resiience.

Health Education
Coming up on the days of Thursday, 5/4/23, and Friday, 5/5/23, your student will be learning about the prevention of HIV and other STIs. The lessons for this subject matter are taken from the Northwest Ed (Traverse City Intermediate School District) endorsed Michigan Model Health curriculum. According to Michigan law, you have the right to review the materials and curriculum content to be used in HIV
and other STI’s education. If you wish to review the materials or curriculum content, please contact Josh Vander Meulen or Jamie Robinson using the information below. You also have the right to observe instruction in your child''s classroom. If you wish to do this, also use the contact information to make arrangements. This statute also allows you to excuse your child from participation in the classes that include HIV and STI’s prevention instruction. A Kentucky Derby Dinner Party
Glen Lake Schools Foundation is having their Inagural Spring Gala! A Kentucky Derby Dinner Party at Mountains Flower Lodge @ The Homestead on Saturday, May 6th. Cocktails from 5:00 - 6:30 with Dinner served afterwards. All proceeds go to support Glen Lake Students. Tickets are $150 per ticket. Cool Tech Camp Opportunities, Grades 5th, 6th, and 7th!
Northwest Education Services Career Tech is offering some incredible camp opportunities this summer. Camp Choices include: Art Adventures, Auto Body-Custom Sports Logo, Babysitter's Club, Bugs-Mud-and Waterways, Computer Exploration, Computers Unleased, Construction Fever, Intro to E-Sports, Intro to Metalworking, Medical Crime Scene Investigation, Outdoor Power Sports, and Wleding & Fabrication. Registration begins April 12 - May 12, Classes fill on a first come, first served basis. $50 per camp includes t-shirt, supplies, snacks and a pizza party on the last day!
