Gospel Word of the Week!

Scriptural passage for the day: (

Psalm 27:14 (New Revised Standard Version)

"Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!"

We know God is with us! He calls us to be strong and be patient. Each one of us is called to Arise: Get Up! and persevere, have patience, and demonstrate caring for one another as Jesus did. Take care and God bless.

Alberta Health Daily Checklist - Updated Oct. 8, 2020

Covid-19 - How long to stay home from school

Please discuss/remind your children of the following health and safety guidelines. Working together between home and school really makes a difference! We are noticing that students are needing more reminders lately of the following:

  • Wearing masks on the bus is mandatory. Staff have had to remind students of this lately.

  • Wearing masks in the school while seated closely to someone, walking in the school/classroom, or being in a closer proximity activity is mandatory in Grades 4-9. Mask breaks are provided.

  • Please remember to wash your mask often as per the instructions that were provided with the mask. Please also remember to bring a mask to school each day. We have had some of our Grade 4 - 9 students not arriving with a mask lately.

Thank you so much for your support!

Lockers and coat hooks are back!

With the weather starting to get colder, our SAA staff began assigning coat hooks and lockers to our students! Access to the lockers and coat hooks is staggered, with small groups of students being given access at one time. We are continuing to be diligent with safety and the lockers/coat hooks will continue to be sanitized as well. Thank you for your patience as we move to transition all students.

Halloween at SAA!

  1. Students may dress in Halloween costuming on October 30th, with general safety guidelines in place which promote our Catholic teaching. No violent props, and please remind students that we are a K - 9 school and small children are also in the building. We will let children dress up at school, or have the choice of wearing orange and black.

Please see the attached guidelines that have been shared from Alberta Health Services regarding Halloween treats:

Director position opportunity!

Seeking Candidates for Foundation Directors

Make a difference in Catholic Education by becoming a Foundation Director!

The Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools Education Foundation calls for interested community members to submit their name to serve as a Foundation Director. This opportunity can introduce you to new experiences and a world of possibilities to help students build a better future.

Board Composition

The Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools Education Foundation Board of Directors consists of between 7 and 11 Directors, and a Chairperson, Vice- Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Parliamentarian, and Past Chair in the Executive Roles of the Board. Executive members may also be Directors, but that is not necessary. A Board member may hold a maximum of two positions on the Board at any given time.

Following the AGM, held September 24, 2020, there are still some Director positions that remain vacant. The Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools Education Foundation Board is seeking qualified members to serve in the following roles:

DIRECTOR – Student Member (from MCHS – grade 9-12) for a two-year term (2020-2022)

DIRECTOR – Student Member (from grade 9 at any Division Jr. High) for a two-year term (2020-2022)

DIRECTOR – Community Member: Town of Legal or a Member-at-Large for 2 two-year term (2020-2022)may live in or around the Town of Legal or anywhere in the Division boundaries if filled as a Member at Large

DIRECTOR – Community Member: Town of Morinville for a two-year term (2020-2022)

DIRECTOR – Professional Legal Community Member for a two-year term (2020-2022) – this person would be a lawyer or para-legal living anywhere in the Division boundaries

All Directors without Portfolio or an Executive Role serve for a minimum of 1-year term, although a longer two term, as listed above, is preferred to ensure adequate continuity of the Board of Directors. The position is effective once elected or appointed and continues to the next AGM where the position is advertised.

The Board of Directors is an excellent opportunity to get involved in Catholic Education in your community and to make a difference in building better futures, one student at a time.

Application Process

To submit your name for consideration or request more information on any of these positions, please send an e-mail to

The e-mail should include a brief statement on why you are qualified to fill this position and your full name, address, phone number, and email. Elections are normally held once per year, at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), however, in the event of vacant positions, Directors and Executive Members may be appointed to an open position, subject to approval by 2/3 of the Executive Committee. The Application/Nomination Process is ongoing as long as a vacancy exists.

Mrs. Samson receives an Award!

Congratulations to Mrs. Samson for receiving the Excellence in Catholic Education Award. These were awarded in the Spring but due to Covid Mrs. Samson had not been honoured in person with the awards. On Thursday afternoon, our Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Clint Moroziuk presented the awards to Mrs. Samson.
